Sincerely, I don't get it, would this old docile Service Chiefs stop a coup, i doubt it. I suspect there are Generals down the ladder that are not in good terms with the Presidency and he would rather they not be service chiefs, these are probably real men that wont suck up to him. These service chiefs cant stop a coup, because the ranks are so dissatisfied with them and their failures.
