Was he that great??

That man built over 30 thousands housing units targeting the poor and middle class.
U see all those estates in Lagos housing working class...they were built by him.
The present ones only build estates that even upper class can barely afford.

Because the people in tokyo are more civilized than Nigeria.

There are actually bad traffic in tokyo but the People in Tokyo obey traffic rules and regulations unlike here.

No planning here, people disobey government planning strategies and do not take permits before they build...people here are lawless.
Exactly my point.. so let stop hoping for what we can't achieve... Nigerians are basically not civilized

Oh lawd...can someone tell these illiterate knuckleheads that Tokyo's annual budget is roughly 150 billion dollars, which is 6 times the annual budget of the entire Nigeria, and 50 times the annual budget of Lagos!

Honestly, your education is wasted. Go and demand a refund from wherever you schooled. Educated illiterates.

Go on. Post more Tokyo images and demand to know why Lagos is not like that!

The famous Shibuya Interception in Tokyo alone has about 3,000 people crossing it Every 5minutes

And still there has never been traffic grid-lock there, Imagine if it was Lagos??

If it were lagos, danfos would be driving on all those sidewalks

People would be hawking right on the road

Lawless!

To me, Nigerians behave like lower level animals.

I mean what's the difference between like a squirrel and a typical Nigerian? Besides the bigger brain? Just all around chaotic

You are the one that is is a miserable blockhead. You are exhibiting your imbecility on a public forum and doing it proudly.

Shouting up and down like a banshee about budget size. Have you asked yourself why Nigeria's budget is that low and how the low budget is being used/stolen.

Just keep quiet if you don't have anything to say.

So, why can't we be like Tokyo?

1.Basically, Japan's income is from manufactured goods and services...

As a result, and this is IMPORTANT, they can set the prices of their goods and services, which means they can earn as much money as they like.

Nigeria on the other hand has been reliant on agriculture, minerals, and crude oil. Whose prices we don't set, and crucially, most of these things are produced by far more countries...thus prices stay low.

2.Taxes. Here in Nigeria, we don't collect enough taxes. Our tax to gdp ratio is 5.8%. Japan's tax to gdp ratio is 31.4% Japan has a higher GDP than we do, so more income.

3.Because Japan is a manufacturing economy, this makes things like road construction much much easier. A road in Japan can be constructed with made in Japan machines. In Nigeria, road construction is more expensive due to...eg...machines have to be imported because we don't make them

4. Japan does not spend as much on defence as Nigeria does....because their defence is largely the work of the US...meaning more cash to pay for the good life...

If we want to be like Japan

1.Nigerians have to end all subsides in power and petrol, and start running things profitably.

2.We have to hold all our politicians accountable, which means all of them, not just Buhari...(infact the way we play politics in Nigeria...we always badmouth whoever is in Aso Rock so that our side wins later on and we can chop money. Not that APC is doing well...they ain't)

3.Pay more taxes

4.Make the main driver of our economy manufacturing. Not importing stuff. Plus, we have to make the main aim of education to be technical...and vocational...to produce skilled technicians, not unskilled office workers.

Japan has an armed force...called the Self Defense Force. It has some arms and ammo...and compared to some countries Armies, they are well armed, but they cannot fight an offensive war...they can only defend in conjunction with the US armed forces which maintains a military presence in the country.

Their immediate past prime minister Abe Shinzo was talking about amending the constitution to make the JSDF a fully fledged army (because China), but for now, that is on the cooler (Don't know what their current PM has in mind). Then some Japanese people want the US off their country.

Oh I get it now, But during the World war, Japan had their own army?

Why did everything changed suddenly?

The streets in Lagos are simply too narrow. Roads in a built-up area like this need to be at least 4 lanes wide in either direction.

Why did everything changed suddenly?

1.They lost to the Allies. (Japan was allied with Nazi Germany and Facist Italy in WW2...and they were beaten by the US and the USSR).

2.The Japanese Army pre WW2 was one of the stronger armies (they beat the British in Malaysia, the French in Indochina, and the Dutch in Indonesia all by 1942).but eventually they lost (due to a variety of factors).

3.The US, which was given the running of Japan, took measures to ensure Japan never had a strong army again...hence the US written constitution that gave Japan the JSDF.

More people like the o.p are needed here.

Africa will rise if majority of its people could be persuaded to see and do things reasonably.

you dont need to think that far....take that thing that black women put on their heads for example....

those things are very expensive....

and when a black person would produce it for them, they will not buy it....they rather buy foreighn....

soo,i just laugh when they complain how others are doing better than them....

Forget that thing bro, Nigerian traders are very manipulative, you try to patronise made in Nigeria product and see how costly they are compared to foreign ones. Just look at rice and other products the government closed border for!

We see every opportunity as an avenue to get rich over night where by causing future chaos on ourselves. I use to be a die hard made in Nigerian product until I started seeing the evil and hardship it brings to the masses.

We are too greedy to be left alone! forget government! We are the cause of our own downfall, just imagine we use to have 2 women who fry 'akara'; for some days one of the women fell ill, the remaining one automatically increased her "'akara'" price overnight while decreasing the quantity! She will tell you "if you no wan buy you leave"!!

I swear at some point I wish i wasn't born a Nigerian!
