The former Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kelechi Kennedy Nwagwu, has said that the Governorship Candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume dropped him as his running mate on the fear that he (Nwagwu) will oppose any plan by Araraume to run for second term, if elected the next Governor of Imo State.
Hon. Nwagwu who stated this last weekend maintained that for Senator Araraume to be allowed to run for a second term after being elected the next Governor of Imo State will be to the detriment of Owerri zone producing the Governor come 2015.
Nwagwu equally made it clear at the forum that he was not in support of Senator Araraume running for the governorship election in the first place because he’s not a man to be trusted.
According to Nwagwu, when the Alliance Group decided that the best thing was to look for a platform, having lost grip of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he insisted that the only condition for Senator Araraume’s support by them was that nothing will jeopardize the chances of Owerri zone producing the Governor of Imo State in 2015.
The Ikeduru born politician however hinted that Senator Araraume on discovering that he will oppose his (Araraume) second term bid, if elected Governor in April 2011, decided to drop him as his running mate for the April Governorship election in Imo State.
He emphasized that the ACN Governorship candidate in Imo State ensured that nobody with guts was among his team from Owerri zone, insisting that those working with him on his governorship project are doing so for the sake of their personal interest only.
While maintaining that the people of Owerri zone are very passionate about the governorship come 2015, Nwagwu said that all the candidate who have been pledging to hand over to Owerri zone in 2015 should not be taking serious, as according to him, they have the constitutional right to run a second term in 2015. He also stated that Imo state is not safe in the hands of Senator Araraume, and all Imo people should not vote him come April.
