Security in SAP and GRC refers to all the processes, strategies and technologies brought together or deployed to ensure the protection of assets of the organization whether at rest or in motion.

GRC is an acronym for GOVERNANCE RISK & COMPLIANCE, It also an acronym that describes all bringing in a reliable manner together all the capability of the organization towards reliably achieving GOAL AND OBJECTIVES of an organization while focusing on risk and acting on integrity.

Criteria used to determine security in SAP
There is triad that we all are familiar with "CIA" ( CONFIDENTIALITY, INTEGRITY & AVAILABILITY )
Confidentiality - This talks about the level of protection that is assigned to a class
Integrity - This refers to integrity of processes within the system that have deployed to the organization ( Assurance, Accuracy & Consistency )
Availability - This refers to data information that are available when and where its needed.

Classification of Security
Organization Security ie there are various level which security is exercised in assurance us that the data information and file records that we keep are secure.
Physical Security refers to the physical control been put in place, starting from the security at the gate to the security devices that we have in store at the entrance/ exist
Technical Security refer to the program level security , operating level security, database level, also across various level in the organization.

Different Layers of Security
Authentication - Refers to granting people access of the organization ie who to gain access to sensitive data or information.
Authorization - Access granting to people based on the need for them to do / need to know.
Integrity - This is about reliability of processing and generation of files and how the files are kept.
Privacy - This is all about how the files that we have are govern by a certain regulatory requirement must be maintained.
Obligation - This is more or less the core of the security, this is the privileges that we have in the system which control certain areas of the process,function and data files of the organization.

SAP GRC helps organization to manage regulations and compliance and remove any risk in managing an organization's key operation, its ensures a company meets data security and authorization standards.
