This is an attack on Freedom of speech

This is a drive to kill Social Media

They know the vast majority of people dont have ID Numbers because guess what.....they never carried out the exercise.

The Only thing that is linked to SIMS are BVNs

If FG can give out loans based on BVN what is stopping them from using it this time

They know we dont have IDs so they choose that instead
God bless you brother, Opresssion at it's peak

This is how the sane countries we want to emulate as a nation start to build their countries to a sane society they are today.

How?

By restricting a necessary service to IDs that were never properly administered in the first place?

In light of insecurity which pervades the Nigerian state, facilitated by unidentified individuals taking advantage of the mobile network and the anonymity the prevailing regime accords them, a most useful solution would be to tie phone lines to a database of identification on a national scale.

The ball is in your court, why do you disagree with the idea?

What has insecurity got to do with NIN? Is it because of NIN that bandits were able to kidnap 600 children & carry them into a bush? Is it because of NIN that govt can't trace d accounts of d sponsors of Boko Haram? What is d quality of d service u receive from ur service provider?

They should bare it in mind that covid 19 is on a second wave invasion. This is not the time to jam pac the offices of telecom operators and 2 weeks is to short to synchronise millions of customers.

How many years does it take anyone to get his/her SIM card synchronized? Stop blaming govt in every step they make. Blame yourself for not doing the right thing at the right time. You still have over about 15 days to do the needful or get booted out.

Telecommunications companies will be laughing hard. I trust MTN not to succumb to this stupid ultimatum.
This kind of notice should not be less than one full year. But how could someone come up with such an idiotic order in this festive season? Incompetent fellows!

Security has everything to do with Mr. A being able to abduct an individual, requesting ransom be paid , networking with his henchmen all under the cloak of anonymity.

Should a database exist for all phone users, tied to unique and identifiable individuals, it would go a long way to reduce such crimes.

No single strategy can eradicate crime.

It takes a holistic approach and the contribution of the citizenry to address such.

If you are opposed to it, explain why .

So you suddenly realize that covid 19 second wave is real just because you don't want to go and upgrade your SIM information?

Laziness is a disease.

Laziness always make you to continue giving excuses upon excuses instead of getting the job done.

It's not like supplying your NIN will take up to 1 hour to accomplish, or is it?

Did you just arrive in Nigeria?

Impossible, only 1/100000000 of sim users meet this requirement

Networks wouldn't dare, they will lose money and customers

SAMAJ:
Following the earlier directive on the suspension of new SIM registration by network operators, the Federal government has directed all operators in the country to disconnect every SIM card not synchronized with valid National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th 2020.

This came after an urgent meeting of key stakeholders in the Communications industry convened by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) on Monday, December 14, 2020.

The meeting in its resolution insisted that all telecom operators must from Thursday, December 16, 2020 require all their subscribers to provide valid National Identification Number (NIN) to update SIM registration records.

This policy is useless because it would put innocent people into trouble. Criminals would rob you of your phone and use it to make all the calls they need and throw your sim card away after they are done. The police would then arrest you.

Aboki remains Aboki.

Oh really? So how about you profer a better solution
