There's also another factor at work here:

Insecure women want a male partner they can look down on. "Bad boys" tend to be stupid, regardless of whatever success they have. They also tend to come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Women may say they hate a guy that is brutal or too harsh but in reality, they like them.
