These are the same hopeless lawmakers that want under aged wives to vote. A saraki would never allow such nonsense. And he is supposed to be a corrupt crook. He is infinitely infinitely better than everybody in buhari's circles. |

One thing I have learnt in Nigeria is that things can always get worse. There is no end point. You think 18,000/bag of rice is worse, you get 30,000/bag. You think N80/litre of fuel is expensive, you will get 160/litre You think Jonathan is worse, there is always a buhari to prove you wrong. You think a saraki led national assembly is bad, you can always get a worse thing in lawan/gbaja. Things can always get worse. It's a scary fact in Nigeria that Nigerians have condoned. 1 Like |

Some of the members of this NASS should be ashamed of themselves, the house in particular, for expressing and supporting their personal views rather than popular opinion of the masses that PMB is not only a colossal failure by all standards but also lost his brain to the extent of abdicating his primary responsibility. Let them go ahead and discipline him and they will hear from us in 2023. |

Patrioticman007:Sorry to correct you. The insinuation that it is PDP that has failed Nigerians as an opposition is very wrong. Rather it is a special breed of Nigerians (like you actually) that failed Nigerians. In a democracy, the job of the opposition is to provide an alternative, and not necessarily to convince the populace that they are better. The presence of an alternative is what puts the people as the centerpiece of politics and by extension governance. Let me give you an example from the US. By 2016, Trump represented an alternative to Hillary who had just bungled the Secretary of state position by having an ambassador die due to her negligence and aloofness. While he was obviously not a saint as all his unethical and corrupt deals where amplified by the left wing media, Trump latched on that misgovernance and he won. By 2020, the opposition pushed forward Biden, the No 2 man of the last administration. Though he came across as out of breath for the race and fumbled at various foras, he latched on to Trump's bungling of covid-19 and of course, he won!! No party is inherently evil or good neither is one perfect or altruistic than the other. What matters at all times is that both parties know that they have to court the people more. An example is the fact that the Democrat party was the pro-slavery party but right now are the ones championing the Black Lives Matter movt. The Republican party who actually abolished slavery are now the ones being linked with white supremacists. If Americans had demonized the Democrat party based on their antecedents as anti-abolitionists, they would lack an alternate response to the white supremacists which was becoming bolder after 2016. Here in Nigeria, by 2018, it had become clear that apart from the lack of vision and direction that bedeviled the Buhari administration, the man himself had become lethargic and immobile. There was no question that he was no longer the fittest for that office. At that period when the country was in economic doldrums due to a recession, the PDP fielded two proven businessmen and economic literates who on the surface look like a better team were the economy was concerned. Unfortunately, a lot of young educated Nigerians like your good self, instead of looking at the Buhari administration and its foibles and shift towards an alternative as democracy offers, decided to become more fanatical towards the APC and were prepared to vote for the APC even if it fielded a monkey or at least vote for Baba "even if he's on a sick bed" to borrow a phrase from Amaechi. Barely, two years down the line, the alternative is off the table, the chosen one has mounted the saddle and you expect the PDP to do what, put the govt on its toes- a statutory function of the office of the citizen- which you abdicated for partisan reasons. Sorry. Democracy does not work that way. It is the rule of the elite chosen by the majority. And it has a term for the sake of stability which NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING can change. Not even the darts or barks of an opposition. Ask the democratic party Congressmen. |
