You need better understanding..

Issue here is not the telos but our ignorant and greedy governments

Same state/ federal government that doesn't provide power to run BTS is billing high,

Same state/federal government that issue a construction companies road contract without supervision and destroyed fiber cables route is billing high

What does government provide telecoms that justify high billing?

Telecos provide power
Telecos provide fiber route
Telecos repair fiber route destroyed all in the name of government work

They just want to frustrate them and bring the cost to consumers..

Truth be told, those charges are exorbitant. Government should take it easy. Growth and development is a gradual thing and not an instant one. After all, it's not like they use these monies efficiently. So more money is more waste. The should give friendly environment for business to thrive

It's a plot to censor social media. The social media lie Mohammad enjoyed when he was an attack lion for APC.
They want foreign investors to come and do business in Nigeria and they are making business difficult to do for the foreign investors that have been doing business here.

Right of Way this and that. Its all nonsense. What are the states using these taxes and levies for? So annoying.

We just stupidly copied US capitalist inclinations but poor in it's true operation. Socialism with sprinkles of capitalism practised by Asian countries has better cultural affinity with us in Africa, because Asians and Africans live a more communal life than the western nations.

Like is practised in China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia etc these multinational and big firms in Nigeria or other African countries should have been made to adopt some big developmental infrastructural projects (railway, airport mgt, power, water supply, housing etc.) as will be in the nation's short, medium and long term plans. Instead of paying heavy taxes to government which is not well administered due to our peculiarities.

Government can then concentrate on other stuffs like education, healthcare, security in addition to some infrastructural interventions.

In my opinion this is a more communal developmental model closer to the people and tied to our way of life

Imagine.

A govt that can't think of ways to increase IGR will forcefully collect money from her citizen to meet up expectations.

While some countries are supporting technology by sending her citizen abroad to learn our is forcefully asking her citizens to cough out money to run excessive life style

Hmmmm. Nigerians you see. They are coming this bad governors are coming ooo.
We as Nigerians need to shout out, we need to speak up, we need to soro soke against this spate of increase in frivolous taxes ( that the citizens do not feel the impact).
We need to talk out now so that they will not succeed in making access to telecommunications, ICT benefits, and internet use become non affordable , highly expensive, just the way they did in health, electricity, education.
Pls let the allow to save our hard earned income.
Their promise to Nigerians is to make things cheaper and easier not the other way round.

SORO SOKE!!!

Its not about greed, every business man goes into business to make profit. Telecom operators are really trying to keep it together especially in this recession/pandemic. take a look at this, telecom operators pays other company to keep their BTS running 24/7 and to make the downtime reduce to the minimal. They pay huawei to make sure the transmission end of the BTS is up and running(Active issues) also they have to buy diesel to run their diesel generator(DG) telecom operators pays IHS to supply diesel on regular bases to almost all their sites and to maintain and repair the generators other companies also take care of these kind of things like mantrac and mikano(passive issues) lets talk about land the telecos also have to pay rent for their BTS on a yearly basis and we all know how land issues are in Nigeria. lets talk about vandelization, hoodlums breaks into the BTS sites to steal and destroy equipment in the site these equipments are expensive(in millions) most times hoodlums steals the backup batteries and sell them in the market, all these stolen equipment needs to be replaced by the telcos if not the BTS wont operate to the maximum level. Above all this telcos need to pay their staffs and also pay their tax. So please lets not talk about greed here the telecom operators are really trying.
Dpharisee:
Greedy telecom operators, they want to pack up all the money and repatriate to their countries, if not that the states will embezzle all the increase I would have commended them

You speak ignorantly. How much is a liter of diesel? Calculate how much diesel one BTS consumes and extrapolate to over 60k sites.
Also I hope you know those equipments which help you make calls come in dollars and with Nigeria's broken naira, telcos actually spend more to get those equipments.

What kind madness is this?

This govt doesnt produce anything yet they make the market environment unfavourable to both indigenous and foreign investors...

When the investors carry their investments elsewhere their eye go clear OR the investors in return increase their rates and the subscribers (you & I suffer it all)

Madness...

Telecoms are greedy inefficient service providers shedding crocodile tears. They rake in Billions Daily. They are lucky Nigeria has a "toothless bulldog NCC" fearsome looking but unable to bite .If they are not making inordinate profits they would have closed down. Some day we will get good service for our hard earned money.
