Lagos State Government want to restore traffic sanity in and around Apapa in Lagos State, the hosts of the nation’s prime seaports.

It is to takeover traffic management in the areas from the Presidential Task Force by deploying between 400 and 500 officials of its traffic management authority popularly known as LASTMA..

Also to be a part of the new team will be personal of Area B Police Command in Apapa.

The presidential task force has since last year been battling the perennial traffic gridlock and other problems plaguing Apapa.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said this during a fact-finding visit yesterday to the Apapa Port Authority to ascertain the reason for the incessant congestion in the port area, in spite of providing a park for the articulated trucks.

I do a lot of LOGISTIC business in Apapa for over 12 years now , sending more security men is not the solutions because the the huge bribes involved any Nigeria security personel will be compromised......Logistic firms are will to drop 200k bribes per truck to pick up their container this sum can tempt even the i.g of police ...imagine if 20 trucks are kept for the i.g at 200k that 4m naira daily....over 100m naira bribes is earn daily be several groups in Apapa daily......to halt this Lagos state must ban trucks no called for loading from entering Lagos .....the call up system must be automated 2 vessel should be encouraged to go to calaabar and a federal.law...
