If the second wave is deadlier, why has government not banned flights from entering Nigeria or impose lockdown
Its simple: the Economy will crumble; we cant afford another lockdown cos it will be catastrophic for the economy. The fact that you have so many likes on your comment reinforces the deepening dearth of reading culture and objective analysis of issues in that Country.

UK did all the strict guidelines and even went on lockdown for 4 weeks in november, yet they keep recording 50000+ new cases daily...

And many people still don't believe this virus exist.
sad nobody disbelieves the existence of the virus, we all know it exists.. what we don't believe is its existence in Nigeria the way the NCDC uploads their live score records daily, following the way the same federal government, who are supposed to be the ones curbing the spread of the virus, are approaching it, like the NIMC crowd registration amidst the so-called second wave and yet telling to keep distance.. abeg, in Nigeria, covid no dey real, top government officials dey use am cash out big time and chopping our palliatives because they're pallia "thieves" too ...

Until you lockdown the country, you can't control the spread.
Guidelines is useless, an average Nigeria share same wavelength with a goat.

The leaders behave like goats
The leads behave like goats
Until covid becomes as deadly as Ebola, non of these goats will take it serious.

I won't talk about Lagos, goat is an higher animal to an average Lagosian.

Quote me if you're a goat, ignore if you're not.

Proof me right or wrong..

Locking down the nation will achieve nothing but worsen the state of the impoverished Nigerians which will tilt the nation into anarchy far worse than what we witnessed during Endsars protest...

Come to even think of it... How many Nigerians will actually obey or abide with lock down or curfew?!! How many are interested?!!... The problem here is that many are just too poor and hungry to be bothered about any virus! If you like scream from now till your lungs burst.

As for the issue of severity and death rate... Let's keep the panic down a notch. Nigeria and the average Nigerians will come out of this healthier and stronger... What most Nigerians are contending with daily and surviving is far worse than Covid-19.

Don't mind the useless elites...

Suddenly, most of them are at the receiving end of a healthcare nightmare, they are raising alarm and disturbing the peace of the masses, all because they can't jet out abroad for better treatment cos it's worse there.

Some of them dying would have a fighting chance if the healthcare system were up to world standard.

They are all over shouting and raising alarm, for who exactly?!! The large number of masses living below poverty line?!! Smh!!!

This is really scary considering the fact that most Nigerians don't give a damn about obeying the covid 19 guidelines. You hardly see people wearing nose mask or even having hand sanitizer. There is a general believe that it's a virus of the elites but unfortunately many of the low cadre people are dropping dead like a ravished birds all the time. The only difference is that the elites death is broadcasted while the ordinary man's death is totally uneventful and ordinary.

Say what you know and keep within the bounds of sensibility, please!

How many people of 'inconsequential status' do you know have been dropping dead like ravished birds?!!

In this advanced era of social media, how many of such 'deaths' can you hide or cover?!!

I keep saying this... This fear mongering failed last year, it is certainly dead on arrival this time around.

You don't expect families of such renowned Prof, Ekene Dili Chukwu, Port Harcourt army GOC, And the like to lie publicly about what killed their loved ones. Especially as they clearly died in isolation centres.

Of course they(the families) will believe whatever the hospital tells them is responsible for the dead of their love ones.

The hospitals could be running colabo with the government.

When celebrities comes out to say they are positive they probably were not paid to say so, the doctors only need to tell them they are positive and then they believe it and publicize their status.

The collaboration (if there is) is between the institutions (government and hospitals)

This so sadden.

Nigerians expect the virus to disappear by just denying that it exists.
But it has not disappeared.
And since the whole of the Western world is crying and summersaulting over this virus,
Nigerians have been forced to rethink again and finally accept that there is indeed a virus.
No more hide-hide testing and results.

This corona virus is likely going to end in African nations when the western nations and Middle east might had overcome there's. And most likely going to end at the door steps of the poor majority that are now shouting that corona is a scam when the rich minority might have purchased and vaccinated themselves and families. My opinion, though.

because lockdowns end up being counter productive...we are already in recession because of lockdown and many people suffered directly and indirectly because of the lockdowns...so telling the country to go for another one will just kill a lot again and render some livelihoods useless...Europe are more prepared for lockdowns than African countries, their economies and system are more robust

The government cannot sustain a lockdown.

Common palliative that was donated to be shared to the people were hidden in different warehouses.

The corona died down and people went out to parties, gatherings and we were still recording zero deaths but immediately vaccine is out the records went uppp the roof!
Now knowing the country we live in, if you don't see that these increased cases are so that the govt can budget a sh*t load of money to buy the drugs only to be looted again then you're jjc..
Wait till you hear the billions the govt we would soon borrow from china to buy the drugs because they love we the citizens smiley ..clowns

Rubbish. Covid or no covid, people die every day. Old and sick people die more frequently than others. This has nothing to do with any damn “second wave”.
There's covid out there! Stay safe if you're old or suffering from any sickness. Wear your mask so covid doesn't complicate issues for you.

If you're young and healthy, wear your mask. Even if you contract Covid, stay hydrated and you will be fine. Covid is not a death sentence.

Over 99 Percent recovery rate at that...

You would think these imbeciles will actually spend time broadcasting these very words of yours to lessen panic, but nah, they prefer to hype the virus to the heavens!

Whatever panic they are looking to create, I hope they are ready to contend with the fallout! Smh.
