It may be a norm for roadusers to be faced with daily 'roggers' from policemen. The story is similar, if not worse among air travellers.

The number of searches at the international wing of Nigerian Airport are more for extortion than security check.
'What do you have for me/us' is the usual recurring statement during search.

From a recent observation, what is the actual role or reason for searching before Boarding (after the slip is torn etc)?
Or is that post an illegal one?

It seems they are more interested in collecting perfumes that have even passed security checks (since they are less than 100mls).

They trick passengers by highlighting that the goods are flammable (by pointing out the sign), however, they fail to inform passengers that such goods are allowed as hand luggage if they are less than 100mls and in a transparent bag.

What these guys do is to drop these things in a fake trash bin to later share them among themselves.

These are crooks and those that worked on
the 7th January 2021 for Egypt Air Boarding from Abuja are amongst them. (https://www.egyptair.com/en/fly/baggage/Pages/carry-on-baggage.aspx)
My friend didn't get their pictures, but if anyone can capture these people painting Nigeria black, feel free to share.

It is likely the Nigerian government is not aware of these lastphase illegal post at boarding gates.

The authorities should be informed of such.

HONESTLY.
It's very Embarrassing.

I think the INTERNATIONAL WING of the PORT HARCOURT AIRPORT is the worst in the country in terms of randomised BAMBILALA.
Since Fewer International Airplanes land there, these Uniform Men ranging from Immigration, to Customs to Police to Yellow Fever to Army keep passengers waiting all in a bid to extorting them.

In fact, the WORST is when you are about to leave for the final boarding after checking in ur luggage.
These WELL DRESSED MEN and LADIES in Uniform embark on community Bambilala, begging from point A to Point Z. Some start telling you how their WIVES have laboured for 5days in the hospital.

IF those Federal Government Employed Men and Women could do this despite their regular pay, what about the unemployed Nigerians out there suffering..?

It's really a Huge Embarrassment.
Most Countries keep their PORTALS of ENTRY sanitised. But ours is something else.
Even that of BOLE' AIRPORT in a poor Country like Ethiopia is sanitized to an appreciable level.
What's really wrong with us as HUMANS..?
Are we tired of being Human beings or what..?
