Help

I was denied a tourist visa in 2018.

While filling my application for tourist visa under academic section then, I entered BSc, MSc Economics and Phd Economics in view, Although i later dropout from the Phd program due to job location and personal challenges that hit me.

Now the issue, While filling my ds160, I entered only Bsc economics as my educational qualification Presently, i want to attend interview next month and my program is masters in economics, but in my form 1/20 it is written as Managerial Economics/ Business Economics.

Wont the VO notice this difference in qualification in 2018 and now?
If i am ask, how do i defend myself ?
If this is a problem or false information on my end how do i amend this?

I really need your advise.

If you indicated in 2018 that you had a masters degree in economics, why would you leave it out of your application now?

Thank you very much sir

Ask the local government to provide a sponsor letter, written that they will pay the deficit and that you will not become a public burden.
You should also get a bank statement from the local government as this is the preferred sponsor document the U.S embassy like to see.
However, with the assistantship, if you prepare for your interview very well, your sponsor statement might not be checked---based on experiences on and off here. But make sure you get a statement from the LGA and provide a genuine reason why they are paying the deficit.

All the best.

Thank you sir

Please can you talk in a more logical fashion? How is first name supposed to include middle name. Please get rid of the nerves.

Boss, calm down. What's the basis for the subtle insult? It's not mandatory for you to offer advice. You could as well skip my question if you don't find it logical. And yes, I perfectly understand what I was talking about. Attached is a screenshot from my visa confirmation page.

Sorry about that. Just saw it. Anyway, they won't pursue anyone who made that mistake. I guess you can inquire from them.

Better to be denied a visa for going for a second masters than be denied for lying.

In filling the personal information section of the Ds-160, there's a space for your surname and given names. For given names, the right answer is to input both first and middle names.

I don't think they would deny you (and me) having the visa interview because of not having other given names on the application. And I believe it's the DS-160 form that they use for the interview. What's the worst that can happen? We go rough am.

I have same belief bro. But notwithstanding, it only makes sense to reach out to them for clarification. And perhaps someone who has had such issue before can also be of help.

Guys, I just got admitted to Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ.

I’m asked to pay a $500 non refundable deposit to secure my seat and admission

They said this deposit will be added to my tuition fee

My problem now is, what if I’m denied visa, so my money is gone like that ?

Please who else here got admitted to Stevens Institute of Technology?
I got admission too for masters in Actuarial Mathematics and Decision Analytics for fall 2021 with no funding. They also told me to pay 500 dollars to secure my seat which will be added towards my tuition. I am gladly declining cos I got better offers. They are looking for money in the pocket of someone that is also looking for money. That is why it's not advisable to apply for admission to all these private universities- their sole aim is profit. They want me to pay for masters in America when i should be paid. Ain't nobody got time for that. Peace

Nigerians and sense of entitlement... because a country opened up several benefits to international students, you want to turn that privilege to your birth right... Even the country that you have it’s citizenship can’t give you 10% of what the US offers but yet rather than being thankful, you turn am to your birth right.

Ehm, most private universities in America are not-for-profit. And all Ivy leagues, elite liberal arts colleges and other top universities (like MIT, Stanford) most Nigerians get excited about are private institutions. And Stevens Institute of Technology is a fine educational institution. That they don't give the kind of funding you want does not elicit this saltiness. And as a matter of fact, it is usually PhD candidates that get paid not Masters students. Any Masters student that gets funding should count themselves lucky as it's usually PhD students that can claim entitlement to being paid.

Me: After my bachelor degree in 2018, I went for my National Youth Service between 2018 and 2019, after which, I secured a job with ABC Limited where I worked as a Sales Manager between 2019 and 2020. I then proceeded from there to my current organization where I work as a XYZ

Me: My cousin would be covering my deficit
VO: What does he do?

VO: Is he married? Does he have children?
Me: Yes, he’s married with two children, ages 3 and 5.
VO: Where does he live?
Me: He lives in Little Elm, Texas.
VO: Why is your cousin sponsoring you?
Me: He lived with me and my family and my parents sponsored him through his education and now that my dad is late and my cousin has the financial resources, he is willing to return the favour.

Don't mind them. They just want the Nigerian students money. Whether you merit it or not they will give you admission because they need your money.

Hello house. Please, is it wrong to use my uncle's business statement of account? He doesn't have enough on his personal account and even if he transfers now to his personal account it will look suspicious because it is not up to 3 or 6 months. Please can I use it for my i20 and the Ds160 and also at the embassy? And what name should I use to fill the i20? Should it be Uncle or his business name? Thanks.
Someone should please help out. Thanks
