1. Rule number one if you find a Dealer in USA or Canada you looking to buy car from always make research on internet about the company. THIS WAY YOU CAN FIND NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IF THERE ANY.

Please be aware when buying a car from North America, if the car is a non-runner there are always extra ocean charges if shipping it RORO ranging from $150-250 depending on the shipping line.

TIP: To avoid such non-runner charges you can ship non-runner vehicles in a container.

Always check if the title available when you buy a car or you can wait up to one month and you cannot refuse to buy because all auctions have one month to provide a original title.

One more thing if you buying a clean car , order for Auto Check or CarFax you will spend 50$ or less but you will know the history of the car you buying.

I did some research last night and it actually very goon idea to bring cars from North America to Nigeria. Prices are so good over there and you can get any type of vehicle for a good price. There are a lot of options for salvage cars, some of them are fully repaired and looks good. I mean from North America you can get any type of vehicle.

Don`t be surprise when you know that your car was deliver to the port one week before the date of boat sail .
And then you find out that your car was`t loaded. I`ll explain one of the reason why . The reason can be because the USA Custom hold your title for clearance. This process some times can take up to 3 weeks for clearance.
So don`t be surprise.

WHAT IS RORO

Roll-on/roll-off (RORO or ro-ro) ships are vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo such as automobiles, trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers or railroad cars that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels. This is in contrast to lo-lo (lift on-lift off) vessels which use a crane to load and unload cargo.

RORO vessels have built-in ramps which allow the cargo to be efficiently "rolled on" and "rolled off" the vessel when in port. While smaller ferries that operate across rivers and other short distances still often have built-in ramps, the term RORO is generally reserved for larger ocean-going vessels. The ramps and doors may be stern-only, or bow and stern for quick loading.

Ocean shipping to Nigeria is much cheaper from the east coast of the USA. If you purchase a vehicle on the west coast you would have to pay to bring the car to an east coast port.

TIP: Look for vehicles on the east coast of the USA to save on transportation costs.

How long it takes to get a vehicle to Lagos depends basically on the steamship line that you use.

Example - for Ro/Ro : check what the last day to drop off the vehicle in Baltimore Maryland is for making the sailing of a targeted vessel. Right now both ACL and Hoegh have vessles coming through about every 2 weeks. So even if you miss the first one - You WILL ride on the second one provided you have no problems with US customs and your paperwork is in order. These vessels get the RO/RO cargo to Lagos in approx. 16 to 20 days on the water. ACL is the fastest and easiest to work with right now as they have no issues with congestion. It seems that ACL recognized their own need for owning their own property to off load at. So they have no delays upon arrrival. This is important to know when sailing into peak season (October through January).

For Containers the same hold true the below each have a sailing once a week :
Maersk 35 days on the water (to Tin Can)
ZIM 45 days on the water
Delmas 35 days on the water
MSC 30-35 days on the water
all use the public terminal in Lagos - which is always subjetc to congestion issues. so be careful with your timing.
Currently - ZIM is the cheapest and because of the difficult exchange rate issues - many are chossing them.
ACL is sailing only once a month to Tin Can - but they are the fastest on the water and have no congestion * but they are also the priciest right now.
