Business magnate, Aliko Dangote has been receiving praises from engineers, traditional rulers, and other Nigerians, for starting and completing Nigeria’s longest rigid pavement.

The 43KM Obajana-Kabba road in Kogi State constructed by Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), a Nigerian multinational industrial conglomerate, founded by the billionaire, has been described as the country’s most strategic highway.

Myths and misconceptions about Africa are very common in the west. Here are five of the most common myths of recent years, and they may help shed light on what too many people still think of the 'black continent.'

I have said it here before; most Nigerians are product of monarchical environment. Before the coming of the white man, some cultures here have been programmed over years to produce folks who are willingly subservient to the directives and actions of the powerful in their communities! All you see now is the transportation of that mentality to the national stage! For years, they have been desperately trying to push dangote as the poster boy of their fake "rag to riches" story. As if he was not a creation of a corrupt country. This guy is mining limestone and all those minerals almost for free in kogi state. He once had the sole import license to bring in basic staples into Nigeria! How can such a character be glorified by any sane citizen? It's just the typical stockholm syndrome! Serfs trying to 'dobale' for thier new masters..

What is wrong with using tax incentives to induce wealthy private businessmen to help us bridge the huge infrastructural gap that is the reality of Nigeria?

Forget all our tribalistic, sentimental and jingoistic talk on NL. Most informed and progressive Nigerians know that Government simply does not and will never have the money to address the infrastructural deficit of Nigeria. The math does not add up and never will. We simply earn too little to be able to afford an infrastructural renewal of Nigeria.

It is time intelligent folks, and there are many in leadership, get creative, as per utilizing innovative ways to fund critical infrastructure , and leave the "government must do it all" argument to the ignorant, unenlightened or mischievous like you.

Was the scale balanced to favour the people?...

10 years is a very long time for a company operating under monopoly with huge tendencies of expansion within the period, just for a road we have awarded much more for less distance.

Commendation kwa.

The guy is just trying to market his products to Nigeria Government and African countries as whole. We should know that this cement road constructed is not for free, it comes with Tax Free for 10yrs for Dangote Group which our government accented with Dangote.

Why are some of you so needlessly negative? Don't you know this terrible quality will prevent you succeeding in life since you can never see the positive in anything and will therefore walk around 'blind'?

You focus only on the tax waiver Dangote will enjoy and not the benefit of this road to millions of Nigerians who will ply it annually.

The road has now being delivered meaning it can immediately begin aiding commercial and financial activities by facilitating the movement of goods, labour and private individuals.

If this road is not constructed for the next ten years, because Government has no money to pay for it, will the commercial and financial loss not be far, far, far greater than any tax incentive Dangote is getting over the same ten year period?

What is wrong with some of you to the extent you have become so negative you cannot even see that you are inadvertently opposing your own progress?

This narrative will not sell in a country full of individuals for whom just simple thinking and analysis is like rocket science.
In developed societies or even just sane societies,Dangote would have been fined severally and in several billions of dollars for monopoly, price fixing and easily verifiable bribery of government agents to earn contracts.
People forget this is a man that said he would crash cement prices;connived with government officials to ban or limit other cement producers;today cement is unaffordable.
He ventured into many other businesses, trying to use that same monopoly, like flour, noodles, but due to these areas being dominated by multinational players with expertise,he either failed with his products or forced to adhere to real market forces, sold out.
I bet anyone by the time he finishes his refinery, petrol would be unaffordable.
By the way,his delving into the petroleum refinery business to me was a poor business decision for a man so naively rated very highly. The world is moving rapidly away from petroleum into electric cars.
It may still be relevant for most 20-30years,so what happens then to his acclaimed refinery?

It was a dumb move in every sense. However, he knows the environment and the people he's dealing with. Nigeria, and by extension, lots of African countries, will remain dependent on petrol cars for at least 2-3 decades after the rest of the world has moved on to electric cars. For a country that's been one of the major oil producers in the world for decades to not have a functional refinery in 2021 shows you how retrogressive the society is, so electric cars won't be rampant here anytime soon.

In addition, if sabotaging all plans plans to achieve stable electricity in this country for the next 35 years (thereby slowing the proliferation of electric vehicles) is what it would take to guarantee him and his co-investors reaping their full capital back plus enough profits from that refinery project, they will be more than willing to do it.

You're right bro. What am I even thinking? These people just fail to see the positive in life once their political, ethnic and personal bias and bigotry kicks in. Sad for Nigeria to be honest.

A positive person will think about the immense socio-economic benefit of this road for millions of Nigerians over the next ten years and not any tax waiver Dangote, a single individual, will enjoy.

Over 40k concrete road ( the most durable and long lasting per industry standard) na beans?

This is a pure case of fraud. I have always pride myself to choose the right even when 99% go with the wrong.

For years, the FG have single handed made this man the richest man through monopoly. Now, you are granting him a tax-free scheme for building a road? I'm pretty sure Dangote may not be remitting his full tax. I can bet that, and FG is aware probably because he does money laundry for them.

The same way the wall of Jericho fell down flat, that's the same way this corrupt politicians will meet their doom.
