Manchester United - Red Devil

When Salford's dominant rugby league team (Salford is the main district within the City of Salford, Greater Manchester) traveled to France to play games, their unbeaten record impressed the native so the French call them Red Devil. Manchester United dressed in red as Salford. So they take the red devil as their nickname. In 1970s, a devil with a trident in hand was added to the club's logo.

Manchester City - Blue Moon

It is said that Man City fans often sing blue moon to cheer themselves up. The first time when it was sung was at the opening game of the 1989-90 season at Liverpool. Some Man City fans sang a sort of melancholic version when Man City was down, and it caught on in later days. Now Blue Moon has been a surname of Manchester City.

West Ham have two nicknames, 'The Irons ' or 'The Hammers ', both of these names are related to their original name which was 'Thames Ironworks FC'. On the club badge, you can see two hammers, which relate to the club's industrial past.

Arsenal - The Gunners

Arsenal's nickname 'The Gunners' is a reference to the club's origins, having been formed by workers from the Royal Arsenal armament factory in Woolwich in 1886. And it is also showed on their logo.

Aston Villa - Villans

The name Villa derives from Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel, an actual villa once stood in the area, large enough to be a landmark. Aston Villa was set up there. Villans is a coined word. Sometimes people mistake it for Villains.

Brighton Hove Albion - The Seagulls

There is a seagull on their logo. But it used to be a dolphin until 1977. Brighton is a coastal city and has association with dolphin. It is Said to have been invented by supporters in a West Street pub on Christmas Eve 1975 as a response to the Crystal Palace chant of 'Eagles, Eagles!' the cry 'Seagulls, Seagulls!' rapidly caught on.

Everton - Toffees
The area of Everton has seen a number of toffee shops grace its streets. The toffee shops served fans of EFC with sweet treats and match-day delights while watching the Blues play. Players will get together to have toffees after training and match. Gradually, Toffees has become Everton's nickname.

Leicester City - The Foxes
As Leicestershire is known for foxes and fox hunting, an image of a fox was first incorporated into the club crest in 1948. This is the origin of Leicester City’s nickname "The Foxes".

Newcastle United - The Magpies
Newcastle United is called “The Magpies” because of the famous black and white color of the jersey the players wear, as well as the color of the emblem of the club, which resembles the color of the Eurasian bird Magpie.
