Wike Donates N500 Million To Sokoto To Support Rebuilding Of Central Market by Ctorch: 6:01pm On Jan 20, 2021
FLASH: Governor Nyesom Wike earlier today announced the donation of N500million to the Sokoto State Government to support the rebuilding of the Sokoto Central Market.

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Wednesday donated N500 million to support the Sokoto State Government in rebuilding the Sokoto Central Market ravaged by fire on Tuesday morning.

Wike who visited the scene of the market inferno barely 24 hours after the disaster, expressed shock and dismay over the incident.

Gov. Aminu Tambuwal ’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Muhammad Bello , disclosed this in a statement in Sokoto on Wednesday.

The Rivers governor said part of the donation was to also support the victims of the inferno.
He noted that whatever affected Sokoto state concerned Rivers, adding that his administration would ensure that the affected market was reconstructed and made functional.

Earlier, Tambuwal, while conducting Wike round the fire disaster scene, explained that the market had 16,000 shops out of which at least 60 per cent were affected by the fire.
He said when the fire broke out the relevant state government agencies and those of the Federal Government within the state were mobilised to control it.
After inspecting the scene, Wike and his entourage also paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar in his palace.

He condoled with the state government, the Sultanate Council and the people over the death of the state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abubakar , the younger brother of the Sultan.

In his response, Abubakar, who noted the age-long relationship between Sokoto and Rivers, expressed gratitude to the governor for his visit and support to the state
He commended Tambuwal for his prudent management of the state resources, a performance which fetched it a World Bank grant under the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability And Sustainability (SFTAS) programme.

Good Good.

More donation because I think 500 million is too small to carter for what Tambuwal listed that was burnt.

Wike should have made it 2 billion and above

Rivers people through their governor has shown to Sokoto people that really they are their brothers keeper....

Rivers people have never had it bad like this. Retirees and pensioners are crying for their gratuity and pension not paid for over 4yrs.

Since Wike became governor no civil servant promotion, and he's also yet to pay the new minimum wage.

Would be better if he used that money to buy fire fighting equipment for them the same way he buys cars for judges every month.
Did he even consult the ineffective state assembly for approval of the N500M donation to Sokoto state? This shows how the Governors easily embezzle funds without questioning.

All these 2023 shenanigans will lead Nyesomghosa Wikevie no where, he should take a cue from Gov Akeredolu who has broken ranks in the relationship with the Fulani Led federal government of Buhari for the greater good of Ondo people by declaring forests a no go area for unregistered herdsmen.

Wike thinks that he is now an anointed presidential candidate of Sokoto caliphate and his croaked Agbero motorpark tout voice will appeal to the people harassing Bishop Kukah whom the Pope being wiser and not taking any chances gave him an international appointment from the Vatican which is a UN recognised independent State and everyone got the message.

I read the news twice to be sure we are talking about Sokoto state.

From Amechi championing rail projects in the north to Wike rebuilding Sokoto market all for Presidential/VP ambitions.

Wike knows his friends and his enemies, he never hide behind a finger to show them to the world, he never gave chance for any IPOB to cause mayhem in his state, he dealt with them severely
