24 Hours After IGP Directive, Igboho Still Walks Free As Victims Recount Ordeal by jarawa: 9:41am On Jan 25, 2021
Over 24 hours after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered the Oyo State Police Commissioner to arrest Sunday Adeyemo aka (Igboho) for his role in the attack on Fulani communities at Iganga, Ibarapa LGA of the state, the suspect is still walking free, Daily Trust on Sunday reports.

Igboho, who had earlier issued a seven-day quit notice to Fulani in the area, reportedly led his supporters to the palace of the Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir, on Friday where they killed three people and razed houses and cars, forcing Fulani resident in the area to flee.

A source close to Igboho told our correspondent on Saturday in Ibadan that Igboho was still going about his usual business at his Soka residence, in Oluyole Local Government Area of the state.

“He has no place to go. He was not at the scene when the incident happened. He had left Igangan before the incident happened. Meanwhile, his mission in Igangan was not to fight anyone but to assure residents of his support for peaceful co-existence as you can see in the video going viral on social media where he encouraged Yoruba people of his support. The only people he asked to leave are terrorists who are causing confusion in the area,” the source said.

Following the attacks on the communities, Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, had on Friday told the BBC Hausa Service that IGP Adamu had directed the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest Igboho.

Also, the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in a statement through his media aide, Taiwo Adisa, asked the commissioner of police to arrest Igboho for inciting the violence.

When contacted, the governor’s chief press secretary, Mr Adisa, directed our correspondent to ask the police why Igboho has not yet been arrested.

“It is not the duty of the governor to arrest anyone but it is the duty of the police,” he said.

Adisa said the governor didn’t mention anyone’s name but he specifically said miscreants, kidnappers and hoodlums in the state should be arrested.

The Oyo Police Command spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, rejected calls put through to him while text messages sent to him were not replied to.

‘How we escaped attack’

Meanwhile, one of the sons of the Sarkin Fulani, Umar Salihu Abdulkadir Sarki, has narrated how they escaped Friday’s attack on their settlement.

Salihu, who spoke to one of our correspondents from his hiding place, said the attack happened despite assurances given to them by various security agencies in the state.

He said both the police and the DSS urged them not to panic, that nothing would happen to them.

“The Police Area Commander in Ibarapa told me that he was coming with Sunday Igboho and that we should calm down that nothing will happen to us, he told us that they were coming together.

“The Area Command later called us and told us that we should move with Sarki to Igboora and we should take him away; as I was trying to drive him away, the road to Igboora was blocked by the youths and I had no option but to turn back,” he said.

Sunday Igboho is not the criminal in this case but the Seriki led Fulani herders who kidnap for ransom, stage armed robbery attack on the people and kill with impunity.

Nobody should twist the truth and turn it around to implicate the people who are rising up against wickedness of the terrorist herders at the face criminal negligence of Nigeria police and malicious culpability of the federal government.

Someone has to pay for the chaos, someone has to be made to face the law, so as to enforce the law as a deterrent to such mindlessness.

He is walking free because he is a free man and not a criminal.

Meanwhile, the person who published this report is a terrorist sympathizer. Igboho didn't kill anyone. He expelled criminals and their king from their hideouts.

Lol Yorubawa and noise, if Buhari really wants Igboho arrested he will simply give the executive order and it won't take more than a few police men to round up Igboho and his thugs and arrest them and nothing will happen, but luckily for Igboho Buhari either doesn't care or is committed to other more important issues. The only saving grace that midget thug has for now is that some political stakeholders from the SW have lobbied the state governor to keep things cool for now and are shielding him. But we the Fulani will surely get back our pound flesh soon, you criminals had the temerity to burn down the residence of our defenceless Seriki instead of facing us like men... walahi you will hear from us soon.

An Ipob member claiming to be Fulani. What a coward. I am not surprised since Kanu your leader also fled with its tail between his legs.

Really?

What you all fail to see is the trend this sort of nonsense is going to start.
A non delegated person, comes up and runs a settlement made up of thousands of people out, people who have lived at that place for over 50 years because of crimal tendencies and personalities within the settlement not minding women and children, destroying and vandalizing property on the guise of recovering ancestral rights and land.
If allowed to sail.
It means an individual can just get up one morning and decide based on sentiments and driven by emotion of ethnic clannish taint, run a tribe out of town too.
This trend, if not curbed would definitely lead to the ouster of the Igbos in the southwest next, especially with the deep and clannish sentiments of lagosians against the no man's land nonsense being sung by the Igbos.
If this comes to play and it would if this trend continues, it would definitely lead to another civil war, for now it's happening in Oyo, next it could be someone running another tribe out of town in Anambra or Sokoto.
The law according to the constitution on freedom of movement and right of residency in any part of Nigeria for Nigerians needs to be reaffirmed and guaranteed for the continuance of the entity Nigeria.

50 SANS have already signed up to defend Igboho. So we are prepared for his arrest.

Look, we've taken things easy so far because of our people in the north.

IGP is a joker. When you push a man to the wall, he will certainly fight back. Igboho is more of a leader than most of the selfish politicians combined together.

By the way, I hope the Atiku supporters have also observed his silence over this issue. If you like, go and vote for another version of 'Buhari' come 2023.
