Officials of the Ondo State government on Monday prevented the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) from showing live footage of the meeting between the governors from the South-west and Fulani herdsmen.

The meeting, which was held at Dome Centre in Akure had all the six governors from the zone in attendance.

The meeting was also attended by Governors of Kebbi and Jigawa States.

The meeting was aimed at discussing the ultimatum issued by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on the herders to vacate forest reserves in the state and is also expected to help find a lasting solution to the repeated clashes between herders and farmers in relation to killings and kidnappings in the six Southwest states.

The BBC had started live broadcast of the event shortly after leaders of the Miyetii Allah arrived the venue of the event.

The station was, however, stopped from continuing with the broadcast shortly after the governors arrived.

Sometimes I wonder if these south west leaders actually realize what they are up against.
The first step to curbing the insecurity challenge is the sacking of all fulani settlements in the states for now. They usually serve as the first port of call and safe haven for these fulani bandits and kidnappers before they venture further into the forests for their criminal activities. Anything short of that is just a placebo.
Oyo state Gov should ask miyetti Allah what they mean when they said that Nigeria belongs to them and they are free to do whatever they wanted anywhere. They should also be asked why the said seriki fulani was collecting ransom on behalf of the kidnappers, why he also issues ultimatum to the police for the release of any of the fulani kidnappers arrested?
Ekiti and ondo state governors should also bring up their states which has been taken over by fulani bandits.

Exactly. I can't understand some condemning the SW Governors here and accusing them of selling out. Based on what?

Akeredolu who uncompromisingly stood his ground against Federal might will now accept Ghana-must-go bag of cash to sell out his people as someone claimed above?

Let them talk in private. Not everything is for public or foreign media consumption. They are talking about the security issues of SW States they are privy to as chief executive officers of those States.

The citizens have no business knowing some information because they are classified information that would be very damaging in the wrong hands.

We will know outcome of the discussion soon and should be patient enough to judge only after that.

Or maybe they have to confront the Fulani herdsmen with incontrovertible and classified information about their crimes the Nigerian and SW public cannot handle knowing.
