Soon, young people shall eat the flesh of older ones and drink their blood. Older people especially baby boomers are changing rules to remain relevant till they enter grave.
60 to 65 years should be retirement age for all civil or public servants. However ,they can still be working on part time basis till 70 or 75 years. But working full time till 70 years does not make sense.

No need, just make it life job. Afterall, yhe president is about 80 years old.

At present, most judges in their 60s are already tired and sluggish, what would they do when they get 70? What’s the fate of the young lawyer who wants to enter the bench? God will punish these guys

If you understand the intention behind this suggestion, especially as someone who is very conversant with the Nigerian way of doing things, you'd delete this your comment yourself.

For a start, ask yourself, what is the hope of the younger generation of adjudicators in attaining the height of SC justiceship if the older JSCs would now have more time than usual in the apex court? And what will be the fate of the concept of justice if left perpetually in the hands of aged men who may not be attuned with trends in vogue that would need a new interpretation of law other than what used to be?

Consider the lifetime tenure of US SC Judges and how that has helped their Jurisprudence. Imagine Eso, JSC, Nnaemeka Agu, Oputa, Mohammed Bello and other outstanding JSC in office for life that would have saved our judicial system from the mess it is presently in. This is not about career advancement as it is about having a jurisprudence sound in procedural and substantive laws.

Their retirement age should be increased to 100years that will be full of bribery & corruption. With most of them having already doctored their age & with high level of unemplyment rate in the country, non of these politicians have plan for these country.

These increments in retirement ages is perceived by me as Trojan horse, the senate have never done anything out of selflessness and it's terrible when factors such average life expectancy (54 years @2018) of a Nigerian is considered before elongatng how long people can serve in public offices...


Did these people ever think that there could be better brains from newer generations who can outperform those old generations. And now when average life expectancy is 54 and you chose 75 it means many positions would be occupied by old gimmicks while the sharp, young and intelligent fellow may not get a chance to be there.
