The money already in domiciliary account trying to pull it out I don't think there's any way the sender to get the money back
This is the negative side of such account, .sometimes they don't have Forex and U are stuck, there are even cases they ask you to cash o ut in local currency when there are even ATMs that can pay you In Euros, pounds and Dollars

Zenith bank want 1000 dollars deposit
I don't think so.
Most banks open with 100 dollars.
Uba even opens with 50 dollars and you can still withdraw everything afterwards,
I made this enquiry as recent as yesterday as a matter of fact
Went to Uba, gtb and access and they all have same procedures
They don't just want you to open an account without an initial deposit.
I don't know what you discussed with the Zenith bank official, but 1000 dollars is absurd.
Kindly go back and verify requirements to open a domiciliary account

If they want to send money to your bank account in Nigeria, we recommend using a specialist currency provider, include WorldRemit, TransferWise, Boss Revolution, Xoom or MoneyGram.

According to our research @ ,
Thousands of people send money back to Nigeria every week.
With over 15 million Nigerians living outside Nigeria, everyone needs an easy and inexpensive way to send nairas back home to benefit family, friends and others.
People from Nigeria send around $20 billion back home each year.

This is even the best and right time to have more money sent from abroad.

After all said and done,
Wiseandtrue,
Maybe that someone you spoke to outside the country is not ready to send you shishi and only decided to keep scoping you... no be u again our darling W! wink
Xoom still send to Nigeria?

Lies, I receive monthly renumeration from abroad and you are here talking thrash.

Do legit transfer, walk into any bank and receive your money either in dollars or naira

Before you outrightly call someone a liar, please consider the fact that their experience could be largely different from yours.
The cbn indeed implemented policies that prevents direct transfer of cash to Nigerian bank accounts. This happened in November 2020 and I suspect it in response to the #Endsars protest.
See, you can still recieve cash from abroad but just not in your account. You’ll have to go to bank, queue and the get it after showing your IDs

Open a Payoneer account and get your funds in the sender's currency (dollars, pounds, Euros, etc).

However, you will have to open a dorm account in Nigeria

Afterward, you can go to the aboki on the streets and do business with them.

If you do automatic conversion, the cross-border payment company will cheat you because you will get it at CBN rate

Using an App like Kuda Bank who have some sort of partnership with PAYONEER, I heard/was told you can just withdraw directly.

Is this true ?

The problem with you lot is you talk from both side of your mouth with nothing upstairs, The issue here is the bank do not have enough forex to cope if 100% remittance is done the way the CBN wants it.I have what we call a Diasporan bank account with first bank those in the know would know what it is. Why would I need cash out local currency in Nigeria was this not the problem?CBN rate V BDC rate,I sent myself £1040 today (£30 being sending fees for £1k) to my 9ja account got alert of N650k, however, CBN rate is N518k and U are here talking shyyttttteee pls stop being annoying if you don't understand what people are saying just observe and learn

I have said it here, the problem with you guy's is that you want everything under the table.

You took that money out of a bank in your country of residence, that same bank can wire you that money and you will get same in local currency, then you said you don't want local currency which is fine and you are not also cool with the rate, no issue as well, the same First bank that gave you a diasporan account will gladly open you a domiciliary account in seconds, data from existing account will be use,you can even walk into their london FBN UK office and open a proper domiciliary account and have it regularise when you visit Nigeria.

If all those failed you or you are not cool with the rates as you said.
The same money can be brought home in cash if you get liver, all you need to do is to declare at the exit point and show the proof that the cash was earn legitimately you will have a seamless passage, but the problem with most of you is that you always think you know it all,you always think everyone on Nairaland is a non entity.

report released last year estimated billions of dollars were sent to africa by africans in diaspora. I guess western world is also behind this and Nigerian govt accepted this stupid policy change.

I don't think it is in the best interest of nigerian govt to block or restrict money transfer because it contributes to africa economic development. Looks like the West don't like it.

Perhaps

Why don't you just listen and learn to the diasporan for once
all those you said up there are systems used 10 years ago
You saying short cut, what short cut?
Carry cash into 9ja are you serious? do we look l like Ghana Burgers?
going the 1st bank UK is so old cos 12 years ago, I walked into their Uk branch I was told I needed £5k to open an account there, wen main street bank in the Uk takes £1 to open.
BDC rate today is N650 and CBN is N518 if you were in my shoes who would you go for?
I would like to state we in the Uk do not have any issues wiring money via 3rd party to our Nigerian bank account. the BDC in Nigeria have loads of Agents in the Uk licenced and you pay to them pay a transfer fee and the BDC in Nigeria credit your account within 5 mins in local currency and current market rate, I judge mine from abokifx
Nigeria the way it is you are advising someone's son to carry live ££££ to aboki, chi, U nor get heart ohhhh
