Agribusiness: APPEALS Trains Kaduna Beneficiaries on Fiduciary Management ,Record Keeping

Kaduna State Coordination Office of Agro-Processing ,Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) Project has commenced a two-day training for its Women and Youth Empowerment Programme (WYEP) beneficiaries on Fiduciary Management , Record Keeping and Sustainability .


The APPEALS programme of the Kaduna State Government under Mal. Nasir El-Rufai with support from the world bank is to build the capacity of beneficiaries in the area of fiduciary management and financial sustainability of their agribusiness enterprises.

The training held at Bafra International Hotel,Kaduna on Wednesday according to Mal. Ibrahim Yakubu , the Women and Youth Livelihood WYEP Specialist of Kaduna APPEALS project is strategically developed to help beneficiaries identify the marketing problems militating against agricultural development and production skills.

While stating that the 537 beneficiaries are expected to use the knowledge acquired during the training for efficient record keeping and management of financial transactions , he emphasized on the need for participants to remain committed and business conscious .

The resource person ,who spoke on importance of Agribusiness and Fiduciary management to farmer charged participants to be focused ,hardworking and committed to growth and development ,said farmers will have reason to smile if they could improve their agribusiness skills.

According to him , "Agribusiness has been growing due to increase in awareness on need for sustainable food production ,renewed focus on growing non-oil sector of the economy by the government and implementation of policies geared towards encouraging farmers and investors

While stating that Agribusiness is all about how to conduct successful business in the food and agricultural related sectors , he said "Agribusiness in Nigeria consists of the following four major sectors: Agricultural inputs, Agricultural production, Agricultural processing- manufacturing or agro- processing and agricultural-marketing sector.

He identified top Agribusiness opportunities in Nigeria as :production ,processing ,storage, transport and logistics, marketing ,export business ,commodity trading and agro- consultancy .

He however , urged the participants to not only develop the agribusiness skills to manage finance ,procurement and assets of Agricultural production, but also deemphasize.
