"No one owes you [or] your family anything; nor is it the local government's responsibility to support you during trying times like this!" he said. "Sink or swim it's your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I'm sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout."

Typical response of a Republican mayor. They don't care about the masses but about their powerful friends that owns big corporations. Its good that Texas residents experience this because they always say the love being Republican.

Reading without understanding. The guy resigned over his highly insensitive post, not because of power outage or lack of water. See all of them shouting "where system works" like it is some kind of poem.

Nigerian Ministers have said worse on social media but have still retained their jobs. The fact is that he took responsibility for his actions and resigned. This can never happen in Nigeria. Femi Adesina, Lauretta Onochie, Garba Shehu & Lai Mohammed ought to have resigned a long time ago for their stupid posts but they can't do that as the average Nigerian doesn't have integrity.

Incompetent? Not at all. The power was out as a result of natural disaster. The other facilities were damaged too. But he went haywire on the residents.

He started by saying: let me hurt some feelings.

saying "only the strong will survive and the weak will [perish.]"

"No one owes you [or] your family anything; nor is it the local government's responsibility to support you during trying times like this!" he said. "Sink or swim it's your choice! The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I'm sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout."

Boyd told people without water to "think outside the box to survive" and called people waiting in the cold because they have no power "lazy" – even as authorities were telling people to stay home to avoid icy roads.

"Bottom line quit crying and looking for a handout!!" he said, before finishing off his message in capital letters,"DONT [be] PART OF PROBLEM, BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION!!" .

I apologize for the wording and some of the phrases that were used!"

Trump himself said far worse things. Why didn't he resign.

Well, Trump has been booted out from the Oval Office. So, there are consequences for one's actions. You have to remember that Trump is not a politician. He doesn't understand the concept of taking responsibility. He's always been this way even before he became President. We should accept mediocrity simply because another country tolerated it. We will never move forward with this mindset.
