Insecurity: Your failure to stop herdsmen impunities may lead to full-blown ethnic conflicts – Moghalu tells Buhari

Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, 2019 presidential candidate and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has clearly told President Muhammadu Buhari that there are grave consequences of his government's failure to stop heinous crimes being committed by killer herdsmen and bandits across the country..

The former United Nations diplomat gave the warning in a statement he signed and made available for press.

Moghalu warned that the situation, if not controlled could result in a widespread ethnic conflict.

The new generation political leader
recalled his experience with such situations, including the Rwandan genocide and in other countries as a senior United Nation official in the 1990s.

"The failure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to end the menace of criminal herdsmen and bandits throughout Nigeria has led to the stigmatization of the Fulani and other ethnic groups for the crimes of a few," Moghalu said.

According to him, the failure of Nigerian authorities to deploy effective security and law enforcement action against these criminals has created a dangerous vacuum that is increasingly filled, unsurprisingly, by self-defense measures by several communities across the country.

"This could lead to reprisals based on ethnic profiling. In this context, I deplore the recent killings of innocent Nigerians of Northern extraction in Oyo State," the former presidential candidate said.

Moghalu, who pointed out that he had played a role internationally to rebuild several failed states after destructive internal conflicts, called on Buhari to act decisively before it becomes too late.

He noted that at this point, the country has lost its monopoly of the use of force since killer herdsmen, bandits and other terrorists can free attack defenseless Nigerians without being brought to book

The former diplomat warned that no one should be above the country's laws, wondering why the authorities will appear impotent in cases involving killer-herdsmen and bandits but act decisively to squash peaceful protests by citizens.

There are African phrases that best describe the disobedience of these failed government.

" A man who fails to guide his territory will soon face threat from his enemies"

" A fly that does not heed to advice will soon follow the corpse to the grave"

Buhari have had enough time to get things right in this country. Unless he is deaf I can't understand his ignorance towards this ethnic war that's fast looming.

Am still thinking Nigeria may be one of those countries cursed in the bible. Just don't understand why things doesn't get better, rather it's from fry pan to fire.

God, truly, is the only one that can save this country

The international body needs to sanction Buhari cos of his negligence on important issues.
As magnificent as the #endsars protest was, the best Buhari could do was to send army to disrupt the peaceful protest. Further painting the image of Nigeria black on the international map.

Now again, another issue that could spike huge ethnic crisis yet he has acted slow or rather kept mute maybe waiting till it escalate like the endsars own.

Seriously, If this is something like football manager World I would have sold Buhari out of this country. This man has caused us pain than any leader in the past.

Moghalu should keep his mouth shut....he has no right whatsoever to disrespect the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria...is he saying the president isn't doing his best to bring the insecurity issues in the country to an end? Is he mad?.....besides what ethnic tension is he talking about? Nothing is going to happen to Nigeria...all enemies of the state must be brought to book..

Majority of people on this site have never encountered herdmen before but the urge to spread FAKENEWS for likes is addictive to most of them.

The silence of the President and Presidency keeps giving these Fulani terrorists boldness to cause more atrocities.

How will a foolish governor say Fulani terrorists can carry guns, not just gun, AK 47 in broad daylight, but ordinary citizens can't try such.

Are Fulani the first class citizens?

Just imagine a scenario where you as a person pass in front of a security agent (Police or Army) with a gun, will you go scot free?

But if a Fulani terrorist carry a gun and pass in front of a security agent, they will only smile and not even dare question him...... We are in a shitty country!

The presidency major problems are Igbos that doesn't kill, or peaceful protesters. They are always quick to send fully armed forces to attack those ones.

But when it comes to bandits and Fulani terrorists that actually kills, they will become friendly and pay them.
