We shouldn't conclude that men are no longer interested in settling down, not until we see a carefully conducted study to establish that. In other words, it is hearsay as far as i know. Several weddings still happening every week across Nigeria; I am sure those brides aren't marrying themselves.

That said, if we are to explore that perception of men no longer interested in settling down, I think it is mainly because marriage exists mostly to protect the interest of the woman, and to settle her down biologically. This actually serves an evolutionary role of providing the woman with stability and protection as she raises her young. Men on the other hand are biologically wired to spread their DNA and that involves mating with as many fertile females as possible. I am discussing evolutionary imperative and not necessarily morality as drawn by our current imagine reality. The marriage environment thus severely restricts the man from his evolutionary obligation....

The home, the children belong to the woman; what then belongs to the man in a marriage? That question, increasing number of men are taking it very seriously and I must confess that it is very hard to find a suitable answer to it. Without that answer, a man is likely to view marriage as no more than a pointless nuisance.

Definitely a Nairaland problem. A romance section problem to be very specific, which makes it dismissible as the boys in this age group are not even the target for any reasonable woman who wants to settle down.

I have contributed towards 4 weddings in my team from Jan till date. With two newborns from last year’s wedding. We are even begging them to chill, make them pay next month before anybody drops another one. Right now in my hand bag, there is an IV from my hairdresser.

If you were into matchmaking business you would know better. The growing number of unmarried women of marriageable age is quite alarming. But you can believe what you want to believe
