For example Apple releases smartphones without earphones forcing people to buy their airpod that only work exclusively on Apple. When that same person wants to move away from Apple to Android, the airpods and many other exclusive apple accessories becomes useless, forcing that customers back to Apple.

"Always on" feature is what Nokia has had on their Belle OS series since the days of Nokia N900 series. Nowadays you have to buy an extra in-car Bluetooth and FM transmitter just to have your device stream songs to your car stereo.
