There's is need for us to have our steel plants working if we are serious about an industrial revolution in the nearest future.

During the 80's when Delta Steel company was functional, alot of Nigerians were occupied and the economy of Warri and its environs benefited heavily from it.

It's been decades since its collapse and no one has shown any series attempts in getting these plants operational.

Would love to hear inputs from Nigerians on this.

I don't really think we had a steel industry to begin with, there is nothing to revive

We had Aladja steel company that produced 900k metric tones of billets and 300k metric tones of rolled product when it was operational until its collapse in the last 90's.

So yes, we had a steel industry.

The oil boom blinded our government on the need to develop our Iron and Steel industry: It has killed it through corruption, lack of maintenance and inconsistent foreign policies through neo-colonialism.

The only hope of developing and revitalizing the iron and steel industry can be found in

1. Diversifying the economy and placing less priority on crude.

2 Honestly encouraging investors (both foreigner and local) to invest in the Iron and Steel industry by making the industry look attractive through loans and government grants.

3. Invitation of foreign expatriates to educate, enlighten and teach our people here, on the newest ways of managing and running the industry as a whole.

Even if you give hints on how the steel industry can be revived....FG and her folks are not interested in it at the moment.

They are after oil money

Forget reviving it, who will buy the steel? Except u want to export it or make just reinforcement for structures. Blacks are not industrialists. They want finished products ,they can't manufacture products themselves. If u see any manufacturing company here its just an assembly plant nothing more

When we start teaching our own local technology in our schools and Universities on how to improve on our own technology which will allow for our own industrial revolution and will make us to be self sufficient. We have the same knowledge too which we need to develop. Check this video of making iron with 100% local Edo materials.

We do not need to export, let's meet our local demands, we import most steels used in constructions, Nigeria is a developing nation, so there will always be need for steel.
