So you mean they are not good entrepreneurs

His suggestion is to regulate the industry.

No igbo or your man that owns a refinery will reject this idea.

Have BUA and Lafarge stopped manufacturing? If you like...don't buy dangote, buy BUA cement or Lafarge....I don't subscribe to Danogte, or work for him self.

Plus, BUA's refinery in Imo would be refining everything..except petrol. Reason being petrol is subsided, while every other thing is not. Think about that
alhaji,

Nigeria does not need subsidy, as far as market entry restrictions can be removed.
Dangote will rather die than operate in a fully perfect competitive market. He is using all influence possible to keep the markets restricted, or at least very difficult to enter. Forget the audio licences issued to refiners, let them try to start construction and watch dangote and his government minions frustrate them out of business. We all know the unwritten code.

I can tell u stories of licence holders who were frustrated by the same government that issues the licences.

If Dangote is smart, he shouldn't worry about the license.

He should start his refinery and by the time he crashes pump price of petrol, the importers won't have choice but to stop.

issa simple stuvs na.

It's very obvious, but when you complain about this man's uncanny brand of vicious monopoly/capitalism, folks make it look like you are just hating..
From flour, to grains and cement, he has managed to sponsor presidents who helped him push off his competitors. He will then monopolize the sector, fix prices as he feels and disappear into one of his mansions while ordinary people suffer.. Cement prices in Nigeria are higher than that of other countries where Dangote has cement plants! Yet he has licences for limestone here in Nigeria! The man is a daredevil capitalist who believes strongly in manipulatig the system to squeeze the last breadth out of the poor masses.. To think that he is even being used as the top example of successful entrepreneurs, that the young in this country should look up to is simply mind boggling..
. I was
Suprise to see Dangote cement here in South Africa selling for R60 equivalent of about N1800. The man is an evil man. They better divide this country let everyone goes their separate ways.

Import licence should be restricted to non refinery holders. This is the only condition local refineries would compete squarely with global refineries. If the imported licence is granted to oil marketers ,they will use their money to buy and sell refined petroleum products at competitive prices and Nigeria motorists will be better for it. This will break the monopolistic strategies of local refineries of hoarding and artificial price fixing under the guise of turn around maintenance, machine breakdown to control prices and exploit the masses

Don't mind that joker deceiving himself as a minister of truth. The moment it is adhered to, Dangote and his government cronies will frustrate the lives of the competitors. For example, it is easy to conjure papers to supply Dangote in Naira at extremely subsidised rates in undeclared papers would they prefer secrets. If others are admitted in the industry, they would require open dealings and transparency which he rather die than see happen

If he or anyone has intricate reports of the nnnerlinings of any business Dangote has ever put hand in, I'll keep quiet. He can declare it. Vagueness and cult-like secretes everywhere

Indeed. You must be Dangote son. Why are your emotions stirred up. Before playing the ostrich address why Dangote hates open market and competition and what's his business with fuel. Importation. If you were one of those whose legitimate businesses would be closed up that has taken some 40 years to build you'd interact more rationally.

Ignore him jare... Notice how Otedola sold his stake in Zenon right immediately after Dangote dabble into oil. He knows Dangote will kill his business because of his monopolistic greediness. Dangote my foot.

He gets all kinds of duty breaks at the ports. His lorries are never stopped on the highways. He has licences to mine as much limestones as he needs at kogi, Edo and other areas. CBN is providing him endless forex for his imports and "loans" for his refinery! Yet, there are reports that he is never up to date with his taxes! He will find every tactics to dodge paying taxes after making a kill with fixed prices for his goods! The man is a bigger danger to Nigerias economy than most Nigerians will ever know! And to get internationally priced commodity in Naira to sell at dollar rate further juxtaposes everything

When Mitt Romsney wanted to conduct US presidency, he produced his tax returns for his companies as far as thirty years

If anyone know the operation Al licensing cost Dangote pays for limestone, annual production report and taxes, let's have it. If anyone anywhere has a report on the taxes Danogte industry pays, then I'll succumb and say he's legit

Danmgote has two factories in South Africa....plus

1,South Africa has better electricity supply than Nigeria....cost from running generator gone

2.South Africa has a good railway system....cost of transport gone down

3.South Africa has a good road system...cost of transport gone down

4.South Africa can afford a good road and railway system because they diversify their economy, plus they also charge higher taxes...their tax to gdp ratio is 23% Nigeria is 6.1%, plus there is a toll on some south African roads (attempts to reintroduce tolls in Nigeria led to growling and protesting)..plus electric companies in SA charge cost reflective tarrifs, and don't have people and government agencies refusing to pay their power bills either

Be deceiving yourself there. Dangote is merely buying legitimacy with global Dangote cement while the shady nonsense is perpetuated here since the profits are hedged here against the loses there. Dey deceive yourself assuming everyone is dumb

. Since you say your Dangote is authentic. Tell us his tax payment ratings yearly since ten years. You can find that of global companies online, u hidden. Even Zenith bank declared 699.5 billion Naira profit for last year. Tell us back to back Dangote own since ten years

1.There are over 20 licensees for refineries in Nigeria, out of which 4 are active. What Dangote is suggesting will also include these guys, including his arch rival and enemy BUA...

2.Secondly, you did not read the article...

The suggestion is when the said refinery is undergoing TAM....then imported fuel could be used to meet up with demand..

Of course, restriucting import to refinery licencees is bad economics...but it won't just benefit Dangote.

So just for a few days he will be doing his TAM the reserves won't be able to cover the gap
He must import
The man is just a thief

I think the problem is Nigerians really want cheap fuel .

Arguing that it costs the economy long term means nothing to them...cheap fuel, even if it bankrupts the economy
This is not really true. You can predict the future from looking at the past.
Nigeria has one of the most expensive cement prices in the world. Infact, you can import cement from China and it will be way cheaper than Dangote cement. The question now becomes of what benefit is it to Nigeria as a country when we have a massive housing shortage and expensive cement prices?

Open the market to everybody, it should be a raise to the bottom. If Dangote can refine fuel cheaper than those importing, they would go out of business.

The reason why Dangote wants importation to be limited is market manipulation.

You can imagine we import. Tomatoes and it reaches here at 40 Naira 50 Naira per satchet. Immediately Dangote hinted market entry and his monopoly, we started to see strange price skyrocketing.

Thankfully, this is an open situation Nigerians can refer to. Did we not all see price of satches tomatoes running towards 150/200 Naira per satchet?

If we achieve local content production and give as much grant as possible and they milk the stock exchange market and manipulate stock prices so they pay off low dividends. What then does Nigeria benefit from all their whole complex machinery?

Dangote should stop all these monopolistic, government feeding bottle approach to business.

Why is a refinery owner even thinking about importing petrol?

Refineries are generally not viable in the medium term anyway.

I totally agree with you. Cheap everything. I always argue that the issue with Nigeria is not that things are expensive, its an issue of incomes are low. The income side of the equation is what should be addressed. Rent, petrol, food, transport , taxes etc are much less in Nigeria than abroad.
