Nairaland lost it when Apc employed mass media campaign against the then government of Jonathan. The intense media campaign from the opposition and counter rebuttal from the PDP left nairaland in its wake till date.

The paid hacks basically killed intellectual discourse in this forum as every comment was analyzed from the ethnic and partisan perspective.

Must be said, Apc majority northern and South West stock, against the PDP, mostly South East and South South posters set the ethnic undertone. Buhari didn't help matters, with the sectional 5% comment and appointments. Funny enough, most of those warlords have since left the scene leaving dregs to hold sway.

Nairaland can still be fun sometimes, if you know how to navigate your way around.
It can be but gets mostly ruined at the end of the day. I was reading Okupe's topic on 2023 Presidential election now in front page. The thing is just tiring.

Just go and see the hatred there among three major tribes.

I rarely read topics on the front page, that is exactly where you’d find everything you’re trying to avoid.

An avid follower of Nairaland probably a decade ago will understand that Nairaland has lost her savours, interlectual caps and social media as the name goes. Those days as a teenager before l lost my account had men and women of substance whose wisdom and knowledge displayed on comments were another form of school. Even a passer-by will learn from every contribution made. Comments were rich in substance no matter the fallacies.

Comments were based on reasoning and not all this disrespect, insults, tribalism, hatred and teenagers masquerading daily which has made these gentle men and women go on ghost mood.

l agree that some of them are advanced in age now with families and may not be in and out of Nairaland but what happened to that culture?

These people were beyond just interlectuals but will assist you in almost everything. But look at Nairaland, these people who are highly placed in various governent agencies, NGOs and businesses by now that will be helping teenagers but are all on ghost mood.

The annoying part is how people now disrespect others for little or nothing. However, l pity the teenagers, undergraduates and graduates who failed to understand that some dudes here are millionaires and highly placed that can be of help.

This generation will know CAPLOCK. l miss you dude

Seun what happened? I think you deserve a piece of the blame for not policing this platform well. Some of your mods are highly compromised with enforcing and banning of a thing.

I missed the good old Nairaland.

The blame goes to the owner who allows tribalism grow wings..

The op is confused on who is an intellectual.

According to him, if you have an old account in nairaland, you are an intellectual even if your comments are filled with rage and anger

You've summed up the eras.

Truly there was a political era, the atheist era, we are currently in the misogyny, woke era. The one that destroyed everything was the political/election era where this forum became a campaign ground and toxic ideologies were spread like wildfire.

Wonder what the next one will be.

Nairaland is a true reflection of present situation in this country. The past and present political leaders have all failed woefully in their duties. It's same crimal/greedy mindset they have, that is still exhibited by the youths these days. Poverty and social injustice can push people to their elastic limits resulting to messed society. Always, a lot of people are silent on matters concerning the wellbeing of Nigerians because they are benefiting from it and same with calling out government on unjust treatment towards certain zone of this country. We all are just wasting our time trying to solve issues of the moral decay of majority of nairaland users if we don't elect credible people into political office, people who are interested in the general wellbeing of the citizens and not their tribal zones. It will only get worse because when dishonest people are elected they will implement dishonest policies which negatively translate to messed up and a dishonest society. They should continue with mediocrity while other countries are moving ahead. I am even tired of talking self. I fear for the future of Nigeria, because of the present mindset exhibited by large number people in the society. Smh

For news/rumour sake, l can't avoid front page.

The tribal stuff makes me bitter or kinda mixed feelings even when most us have read and heard what happened in Burundi. We can't just pretend or lie that in such instances, there is sentiment for tribal men cripping in and maintaining reasoning becomes a struggle.

It's well grin
