Africa’s richest man and president of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has said the Group’s $2bn urea fertilizer plant at Ibeju Lekki in Lagos will commence operation next week. He disclosed this in Lagos on Saturday 20 March 2021 during a tour of the Group’s facilities by Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State.

The governor visited the facility at Lekki FTZ and Dangote petrochemicals and refinery complex. The plant has an annual capacity of 3 million tons urea and ammonia, according to Dangote. He also disclosed that the petroleum refinery plant would be completed in 2021 but operations will commence first quarter of 2022. The refinery has the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
