Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has called for a power shift from the North to Southern Nigeria in the next administration.

Zulum on Thursday stated this while delivering a lecture on security and economic growth at a book launch by former Director-General of NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside, with the title “Strategic Turnaround”.

He urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to heed his advice and keep to previous agreements made to shift power to the southern part of the country in the next administration.

Zulum used the opportunity to blame poor handling of the Boko Haram insurgency in the early years and corruption of government officials for the insecurity in the country.

He also blamed banditry in the country to the mistake Nigeria made by ignoring poor countries around us.

“If Nigeria had emulated some European countries and empowered their poorer neighbours the situation would have been mitigated,” he said.

According to the governor, military interventions and even national restructuring cannot stop the crisis, he is calling for strategic leadership and social re-orientation to end the insecurity in the country.

Almost everyone that matters in the northern APC are calling for power shift.

Ganduje, El - Rufai, Massari and now Zulum.

Meanwhile, Tinubu is the most popular and acceptable southern politician in the north. Argue with yourselves.

Stupid statement.... you have over 4m internally displaced persons, over 10m out of school children, poverty capital of the world, double digit inflation, extreme unemployment amongst youths, and a debt of over N33tr. but nations with almost equal size of your IDPs and out of school children are your problem..

Tinubu is the best man for the job. He is the only man that can unite Nigeria back. The only governor that gave another tribe commissioner in his tenure. On infrastructure, check all the roads he built in lagos, still standard after almost 15 years. Still intact. Osibanjo also got the interlect to lead. In the east. Peter obi and umahi will also perform well.

This wan May be supporting Amaechi (I'm not complaining) truth be told I will prefer Rotimi Amaechi as president over Any other person currently at the corridors of power

Anyway he only said one reasonable thing, move power to the south.

As for the other things, how can you empower your neighbors when you are not empowered

We have many poor people in Nigeria according to statistics we have more poor people than all our neighbours combined, so why go far to help the poor? Just look at the poor inside Nigeria you haven't helped them you want to go outside Nigeria.

I don't believe those bandits, boko haram, Fulani herdsmen etc are not Nigerians, because in Ghana,Sierra Leone, Togo, Benin etc they have cattle herders, they have normadic Fulani's but those ones don't attack people, destroy peoples farms and kill farmers, they also do not walk about with AK 47's

It is only in Nigeria they do this and I have seen with my eyes in Abuja, Fulani cattle herders carrying AK-47 that gun is not cheap.
I have never seen it in other countries. I don't believe that what they won't do in their country where they have family and friends, they know the system and speak the language, they will do in Nigeria even up to the capital city. I don't believe for once.

Terrorism will be in the core north for many more decades.
Let the north form their terrorist country.
