Turkey got their World Cup qualifying game off to the perfect start as they defeated the favourites in this group, the Netherlands 4-2 at home on Wednesday. Norway meanwhile, made light work of minnows Gibraltar by winning 3-0 and ensured they got off to a perfect start. This is a six-team group with Montenegro and Latvia the other participants and Norway and Turkey were expected to battle it out for the runners-up position in this group before a ball was kicked. However, a win here for either could do wonders for their cause.



Norway

Norway haven’t made it to the World Cup since 1998 but with the generational talents of Erling Haaland and the creativity of youngster Martin Odegaard they could well be on their way to Qatar in 2022. The Euros in 2000 was their last major tournament and their last World Cup qualifying campaign saw them finish fourth. However, they have climbed to 44th in the World Rankings after a solid Euro 2020 qualifying run which seen them finish third behind Spain and Sweden. They have lost just one of their last 19 home games inside 90 minutes at home and have won each of their last two games at home beating Romania and Northern Ireland back in October.



Turkey

Turkey gained an incredible head start as they took, what could prove to be three huge points on Wednesday evening at home to the Netherlands. Now they are on the road looking to end a four-game winless run. Their last trip was to Hungary back in November where they were beaten 2-0 but that is their only defeat in seven away from home. Turkey will play at the Euros in the summer but they haven’t played at a World Cup since they finished third at the tournament in 2002.
