The Netherlands made a poor start to this World Cup qualifying campaign, losing 4-2 in Turkey. They look to bounce back from that defeat with a home game against Latvia. Their opponents also lost their opening game, 2-1 at home to Montenegro. The Netherlands had been unbeaten in five games before the loss in Turkey. Latvia

Lativa led their home game against Montenegro, well for a minute anyway. The visitors got the winner with seven minutes remaining to doom the home side to defeat. Before that loss, Latvia had lost just one of their last nine games. That's mainly because of their Nations League group up against sides such as the Faroe Islands, Andorra and Malta. They finished third but only won one game, away in Andorra. When up against tougher opposition they do struggle, especially on their travels. Of their last 11 away World Cup qualifiers, the only game won was in Andorra. The last set of European Championship qualifiers saw all five away games lost with 15 goals conceded. The Netherlands can't afford any mistakes here, go for them to win on a -2 handicap.
