Professor Onuu, a blended academic and consummate professional has been a Professor of Engineering Physics since 2005. His creativity and ingenuity in damage mechanics, materials/condensed matter physics earned him Post-Doctoral Fellowship awards by The World Academy of Science (TWAS), Trieste, Italy and Academia Sinica (Chinese Academy Science).
Recall that he is the first African and Blackman to visit the State Key Laboratory for Fatigue and Fracture of Materials (SKLFFM), Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Sheyang, China in 1996 for research. More so, he has also greatly advanced the frontiers of acoustical physics and radio science, thus giving him the opportunity of representing Nigeria on Commission C, Radio communication Systems & Signal Processing, of International Union of Radio Science (URSI) in Gent, Belgium since ‘’2008’’.
As a cerebral international scholar of note, Prof. Onuu, had successfully designed and fabricated a lever-type creep testing machine and furnace for studying creep and creep rupture phenomena as well as successfully used acoustic and UHF waves to characterize cities and to determine their degree of urbanization.
