General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has on Thursday, April 8 announced the release of eight members kidnapped in Kaduna state last month.

It would be recalled that in March 27, 8 members of RCCG, Region 30, Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna state were kidnapped.

RCCG’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, confirmed the incident to journalists.

On his part, Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State, Rev (Dr) John Joseph Hayab, said the members were taken away near Doka along the Kachiawu-Kafanchan Highway.

In another update shortly after the attack, public Relations Officer of Kaduna Province of the RCCG, Alao Joseph, said abductors established contact with the leadership of the church, demanding N50 million ransom.

Following this, RCCG declared prayers for the release of their church members and Head of Media and Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, told newsmen that the ministry was also working with security agencies for the safe return of the victims.

However, in latest development, the church members have reportedly been released and have taken to the Hospital for checkup and tests.

Pastor Adeboye announced the good news on Thursday afternoon via his Twitter handle, saying;

“Today I got the exciting news that our brethren who were in captivity of kidnappers have all been released and taken to the Hospital for checkup and tests. Glory be to Jesus. We pray for lasting peace in all troubled regions of the country in Jesus name.”

He however didn’t state if everyone was released or if any ransom was paid to secure their freedom.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, Kaduna state police command was yet to release a statement regarding the new update.
