No one forces any other to buy aao-ebi. You could be nagged to buy it but the ultimate choice is yours. One thing I need understand from your post is if the returns on aso-ebi investment is the owambe after the joining.

It does not matter, Aso Ebi has been a long time fund raiser for weddings and other events. It does not matter whether they wear it to the party or not or whether there is reception or not.

Now the truth is coming out. cheesy grin So it has always been a fund raiser all these while? cheesy grin

Op they reason say them wan use the 20k start life and e dey pain am cheesy grin cheesy grin cheesy cheesy smart guy. 20 aso ebi at 20k each for 20 friends, do the maths yourself. grin cheesy grin grin grin grin cheesy grin cheesy cheesy grin grin grin
Even if the lace material is 6k and bachelorette party material is 3k out of the money . That leaves about 11k for 50 guests sef , that’s 550k . I don’t believe they can start “life “ on that @ op . If the asoebi Na 150k now , your concerns will be justified .

@ op - see the 11k as gift to the couple and humbly carry 2 takeaway packs after wedding service .

is not a matter of packaging food or souvenirs....if they want a low key wedding due to reasons best known to them no need of selling any Aso ebi....they are just been clever 1/2......it is compulsory to buy but it mandatory to buy when is a close friend.

It is never mandatory and the earlier we teach ourselves that we are responsible for our actions the better for us.

This aso-ebi thing. I've only ever bought twice in my life!

One was my flatmate's... the other was a very dear friend, and both were affordable.

Nobody puts me under pressure.

I honestly doubt I'm going to sell aso-ebi when I'm getting married, too, because I don't see myself doing this Nigerian cliché kind of wedding.
Congrats,you've found yourself a husband!
I've said it over and over,thr day I'll get married, this is what will happen;
My people and her people will all meet at the house and from there we head to court altogether.
Get there, sign the papers, take pictures outside then head to a big dinner,
My friends,her friends,my relatives,her relatives...
Cognac (preferably martell blueswift) for the guys and cold champagne for the girls while we eat grilled fish and laugh about some jokes at the dinner.
Then take more pictures of course ,then me and my bride take a walk by the beach and look into out futures together.
The entourage may or may not go back home as I might provide accommodation for them close by incase of hangovers haha cheesy
Then the next morning everybody goes home and life has begun for us all.
I no get energy for drama abeg or some people come and be spraying money and dancing up and down, then fighting over jollof rice all in the name of wedding,nah...
Not my thing!

Prepare for your marriage, marry quietly and pray for your union to be fruitful. Asoebi is cool but it's all frivolities. People even keep eternal enemies because one failed to patronize the sales of their Asoebi. It's your wedding and not a fund raising.

Ain't you tired of the epileptic power situation in your area? Why are you so comfortable buying fuel daily and servicing your generator weekly? How do you feel going out at 1am to put off your generator? Is your conscience not pricking you each time your generator pollution affects your estate? If you can read this then you're lucky. You need a SOLAR POWER SYSTEM TODAY

Completely encapsulates the ideas I have around this!

What's the whole crowd arrangement for? Filled with people I don't know so well or who don't even care about me deeply.

A private intimate hangout with the closest friends and family is so beautiful!

My fiancee is attending a childhood friend wedding this Saturday....We are meant to attend together but it is no reception wedding.(boldly written on IV)

My question is it right to sell aso ebi for a wedding that has no reception because we had to cough out more than 20k for the lace/gele and bachelorette party material alone.

I am feeling this just a clever way to extort money from friends or am I wrong.

If I am not your ebi, I would not buy also bill for your wedding.
Re: Is It Right To Sell Aso Ebi For Wedding With No Reception by DAramis: 4:44pm On Apr 18
While in some region in the south, nobody tasks anyone. Just come with your washed stomach to eat and drink to your satisfaction.

Worst case scenario, you must see small stout to drink. If you wish, spray the couples money. To most rich couples, when leaving the wedding, you even get souvenir.

Abeg, those aso ebi gang whatever should keep that custom in their region. It would be bad if the infect the whole region with such alien custom.
Re: Is It Right To Sell Aso Ebi For Wedding With No Reception by officialmario(m): 4:44pm On Apr 18
The problem this Aso Ebi will cause will be out of hand, most of the celebrant usually use it to exhort from people, when they buy a materials at the rate of 4k in gbagi market, the will sell it 7,500.
3500*60people = the gain on it will be use to buy cow and a bag of rice.
All fingers are nt equal,
Havent we seen someone wearing Aso Ebi without giving out gift to the celebrate, at the end they use the influence of aso ebi to drink 8bottles of beer with 4wrap of swallow food combine wit several plate of rice.

aso-ebi means family clothes.. which means it is for family members only, if you're related to the celebrant ( not friendship unless you're part of the bridesmaid or groomsmen ) then you need to get the aso-ebi... aso-ebi is not meant for friends or guests.

If your gift and food have been packed together for you immediately after joining , what else do want to collect ? Collect your own and go to your now. Is it by force ?

This is a scam

How will you collect money from me for Aso Ebi and there won't be a party? Like no music, no killer, no drinks?

This is another level of Yahoo yahoo. We need EFCC
Na yahoo yahoo but it is not compulsory you attend. Most Nigerians especially the poster of this article is not smart. If you aren't comfortable with a thing, you back off

It's not compulsory but it's ok

The origin of "aso ebi" is to provide uniformity in identifying different groups of well wishers

Well wishers that would need to be gathered in a physical place.would would likely have travelled from far and wide to share in the joyous occasion. courtesy and hospitality demands they be given ordinary water. You want them to spend 20k on clothes for your occasion without even a bottle of water.why the invite in the first place. It's better you do the stuff on Zoom

People do buy clothes because they love the fabrics. I bought two suits cos I was part of the grooms men not because I wanted something in return.

If you are giving out quality, people will buy your aso ebi without even showing up at your wedding
