What are the clubs involved

In other words, these clubs don't want to play UEFA Champions League again and they created their own franchise. Why is UEFA so angry? Do they think they have a monopoly over football tournaments?

There are laws that govern football bodies. You can’t just wake up and say you want to leave. FIFA, UEFA and its likes have been hit too with financial constraints because of the Covid thing.

These teams forming the Super League are just bloody greedy teams who are looking to cash in without even looking deep. They never consider their fan base, football additions, history and commitment! It is just only about the money.

Change is constant no doubt but carrying only a selected few is off. Y ignore d small teams what happens to champs lge history over the years? Remove the european trophies n some clubs will no longer be respected that much. Case study madrid

There is nothing wrong with it! These clubs need money to survive, since UEFA not ready to support them financially instead milking from them, let the clubs decide their fate financially

UEFA is a cash machine? They are broke too! Everyone is affected by the pandemic! This is clearly a case of a Nigerian girl in a relationship, when things turn sideways, they bail!

A lot of business are struggling in this pandemic period and the greediness of some groups or persons has just been exposed. UEFA/FIFA are very greedy and doesn't take into consideration that these clubs now only generate income from TV views, SEO from social media unlike before where it's from TV/commercials, social media platforms, endorsements, jersey sales, etc. while they are roll coasting on their sweat and giving them peanuts in return. I don't blame the clubs for this step even though I don't know the uncertainty when it begins.

No one said they want to scrap Champions League. Do you know how many boxing franchises exist? A lot and they have top 5. The so called small clubs can go play UEF champions league if they like. Let the fans decide which league they want to watch

Is Uefa the world bank? When clubs go about signing players for 150-200M pounds, didn’t they think of their financial stability? The SUPER LEAGUE is an uncharted course for football.., you think there won’t be other breakaways? Football will become useless.., the essence of it will be charred remains of a burnt wood!

No. But why must these clubs be tied to UEFA? Why can't they play their own league?

To me, the founders or conspirators of this ESL ought to have carried FIFA along. As long as FIFA is against this, it will never stand. Unless they want to go all the way to form their own "FIFA", then they will stand.

If this should come to fruition....considering the format and the way Arsenal does transfer business, one can only come to the conclusion that Arsenal will not win any European tournament in the foreseeable future...this season is the last chance for the club. grin grin grin

UEFA doesn't have a monopoly of football. UEFA gives& provides a level playing field for all football clubs in Europe to participate in d game. What perez& his associates are trying to do is create an exclusive club that shuts out others which isn't what football is about

The new league will form their own rules and laws. UEFA rules are only for UEFA. You don't see UEFA making rules for CAF right?

I feel these clubs knew about the greed of UEFA. They use these clubs to rake in billions annually and in turn give them peanuts.

I feel this move is more like a protest.

They want to discuss their options if they must remain with UEFA.
then ur feeling is all wrong.

Who decided what football is about? Football is about entertainment and business. The same UEFA that decided to accept Isreal into the champions league even though it isn't an European country?

Interesting. All these na to improve finances and preserve the round leather game.

I welcome the change.

But with the threat of Ban on founding clubs playing in their domestic leagues,a lot needs to
be put in place for ESL to fly.
The breakaway teams are the reason people watch football. You can them, the league cease to exist.

Re: How The New European Super League Will Work by Kelvinhunta: 7:36am On Apr 20, 2021
Thanks for the analysis but u r indirectly indicating ur words. Those small clubs that don't qualify for Champions league, have they fold up? Besides the plans was not to stop other revenue sources of other clubs but to ad a source if income to big clubs which should be welcome
Rich4god:
In my own understanding. I think uefa is fighting to protect the interests of the smaller clubs. Now imagine if the super leagues succeed, people won't have any interest watching other competition. This in turn will deny smaller clubs the opportunity to generate revenue, there by gradually killing them. Because they won't have the finance to buy good players, leaving them with just low and average players. Whilst on the other hand, the founding clubs of the super League will generate much revenue, giving them the finance to buy quality players. Now at the long, European football will now be just for the super league teams as no one will be watching other competition.

Just take for instance. Compare the number of people that watch Europa League to the number that watch champions league. And since champions league is open for all through qualifying, smaller teams that enter the group stage are giving huge amount of money. These are the funds that makes the smaller teams to stay afloat.

How many times have any of you guys watched the Belgian, Russian, Ukrainian, Austrian domestic league. Clubs from these countries don't generate much from fans outside their country. It's when they qualify for champions league that's when they have the opportunity of been in the light of fans world wide.

If the super League succeed in out rating champions league, smaller teams will suffer and at the long run, football will just be for the big clubs only.

Just my own opinion.
