Two years ago.. I went on a search to get a radiographer : posted on all their regional group search.. We got calls every hour, but all of them are all employed.. OK , we offered to pay 120k and non accepted saying they can change only at above 150k..i quickly researched and found that they all earn above at least 130k even those in the remotest villages..

Taking about pharmacist digressing to trade. Radiographers also open up labs... And make serious money... My guy who is a radiographer and who owned a lab.. Earns over two million monthly from running the lab. Again he left to the UK. Where his monthly income in Maura is about 3million monthly

.i sit know where u got all ur stats.. But radiography is a more profitable course than pharmacy

Chai, Naija don cast! Some radiographers that work as MRI techs are paid up to $40 per hour. Most do 12hour shift which is $480,
After tax around $380. Which is about #180k (naira equivalent for a day of work).

Here is a list of what you can do with a Radiology degree or with additional 6-12months training

xrays
ultrasound general
MRI
CT Scan
Fluoroscopy
Radiotherapy
Dosimetry
Nuclear Medicine
PET
Angiography
fMRI
Echo
Cardio vascular Imaging
Cath Catherization
Arthrogram

oga nor mistake radiologist who are doctors plus extra 4-6 years training on radiology to radiography which is just an image technologist.
so know your fact before you yearn and beside pharmacy school is not for any Harry and Larry the marathon classes from 7am to 6pm(sometimes Saturday) from year two to 3 can break any man.
before we talk of the fail 5 courses out of the possible 30 courses(including separate practicals) repeating system.
so find your facts first there is a reason pharmacy is one of the most strict profession even after graduation.

See dis guy. Who is the richest Radiographer in the world? A Pastor in my church just newly ordained owns a big Pharmacy in Ikeja. A Young Man just approaching his mid 30's. I won't tell you how much he rakes and you're calling 2million naira. How many Radiographers own a Lab? But there many Pharmacist cashing out daily. If it is in terms of Jobs availability, Yes Radiography. Radiography is not saturated since it is not a long time it became a Degree in the University. Just give it time and it will be like Med Lab
In Nigeria, Radiologist own Labs incase you don't know.

Radiography is more lucrative...both in nigeria and abroad. It's one profession in nigeria with very few practitioners, they're hotcakes in the military. Take this piece of advice.

Thank you jare. You have said it all.

Average salary of a Radiographer in the US is $60 while that of a Pharmacist is $100k

In terms of educational qualification Radiography is a two year program with Associate degree while Pharmcy is a doctorate degree program

There are more job opportunities in pharmacy than it is in radiography

In Nigeria, it’s easy to start your own pharmacy but you need a lot of money to buy equipment for an imaging center except you only want to do ultrasound scan and plain film X-ray.

$60 I suppose u mean 60k , well it is debatable because u don't know the level of both certificates from Nigeria in outside communities.

Radiography is a two year program

Job offers, yes, pharmacy has more but the quality is the problem. 150k in Ikeja for a pharmacist and 240k for a radiographer in same place is not same. Many rep works and sales work.. for pharmacist, but how much are u paid? No need to talk of license cover.....it is few.

You can't start a pharmacy in Nigeria with less than 1.5mil. unless it is a chemist store. 1.5m is enough to start of as a Radiographer.

You really don't know anything about Radiography. Do you think that radiography is all about X-rays? There are lots of modalities in Radiography like MRI, CT, Ultrasound, PET Scan, Radiotherapy etc and they all pay very high. Normal X-ray may not pay high but other modalities earn huge salaries.

Oga read my other comments on this post. Thanks.
These other imaging modalities might pay higher than X-rays but their pay is not comparable to that of a pharmacist. The mid salary for any of those in US is 75k per annum while mid salary for a pharmacist is about $120k.
When talking about career growth, two paths are possible, vertical and horizontal growth. When you obtain additional certifications in radiology, like in mri and ct, that is seen as horizontal growth.
True career vertical growth has to do with higher degree. Unfortunately, radiography is a dead end job. Apart from teaching, there is really nothing to do with a Post bachelorette. Every other modality could be licensed through certification.

Pharmacy on the other hand is a doctorate degree program in most countries, Nigeria being an exception. There is an on going discussion to evaluate and align with international standards in this regard. That is true vertical career growth.

Radiography? That's too dumb and unequivocal. How would you compare an Independent course like Pharmacy to a Course that beg Medicine for foodgringrin. Radiography can never ever make you rich. Radiographers are not even useful in field work sef. Radiography is not to be compared to Pharmacy in any form. You should compare Radiography to Medical Laboratory Science na im level be that. Big boys are talking then one Omo ise dey chook headgrin? Even in field work Medical Laboratory Science even beat Radiography.
A Radiographer in the US and UK earn lower than a Pharmacist abeg. OP so because they're all health related you should compare them?
In a Country where Pharmacy visits is more than normal, I totally give you Pharmacy. Pharmacy is harder than Radiography sef so what's the comparison? No spoil my bele abeg.
Tell me a Renowned a Radiographer and I will show you a Renowned Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Professions like Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography were created to aid work of Physicians same with Pharmacy Technologist.
Why am I stressing myself? Choose Radiography for job, Choose Pharmacy to be boss
You really need to broaden your horizon. Do you think radiography ends in X-ray and Ultrasound? Pharmacists are only needed for drug dispensation. Radiography has lots of fields that one can dabble into. An MRI specialist earns more than your average pharmacist. In most private establishments, Radiographers are the highest paid medical personnel. The money a radiography department generates from one MRI scan alone is almost up to the amount most pharmaceutical shops make in a day. What of the money gotten from one bout of chemotherapy? Abeg
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by Syphax(m): 2:16pm On Apr 27
sakaguchi:
To be honest with you, it's pharmacy.

There is this logic of being your own master. In any hospital, the head of pharmacy department and the top dogs in the department are all pharmacists.
In same hospitals, the head of radiology department are strickly doctors called radiologist. Radiographers are not radiologists. Radiographers expose pateotns to radiation of xrays, CT scan, MRI etc and that's where their work ends. This images are by themselves useless for clinical practice unless they are interpreted to help make a diagnosis. Only radiologist are entitled to interpret radiographic images. As a radiographer, you'll be under the shadow of a radiologist for life. Even if you venture into private practice, no doctor worth their name will send patients to you and rely on your interpretation. Whatever a radiographer knows about image interpretation, the average doctor knows and know even more. For more complex image studies, input of specialist doctors called radiologsts are sorted so as a radiographer, you'll still be under the shadow of the radiologists even in private practice.

If working for people is your thing, go for radiography.
If being your own boss is the idea. Go for pharmacy. Both pays. Some radiographers earn more than some pharmacst and some pharmacists earn more than some radiographeras it will profit you to know that the average pharmacist earns more than the average radiographer both in private and government agencies.

Those who enjoy radiology are the doctors called radiologist.

I hope this helps

Bullshit, a Radiographer with a masters on image interpretation knows a whole lot on image interpretation when compared to a radiologist. In UK and USA, Radiographers with masters on Image interpretation are allowed to interpret films so this your analogy is dead on arrival. In private organisations, a Radiographer earns more than a pharmacist. You aren't in the medical field it's very obvious

Isn't it interesting how a lot of people here are comparing radiography to pharmacy, but the most interesting part is that many of them don't even know the difference between radiology and radiography.

Radiography is a very easy course and job,so that says it all.

Pharmacist and medical doctor are almost on the same level at career ladder, while radiographer and a pharmacy technician are of almost the same level too.
