The problem at hand has gone beyond reorganizing security architecture. It needs political reorganization or RESTRUCTURING.

National Assembly should as matter of urgency commence work on RESTRUCTURING Nigeria through amendment of the vital parts of the constitution. The failure to respond before now led the nation into this raging regional self-determination chaos.

Any further delay in acting will most likely lead to any of the following:
1. Military interrupting the democracy to take over government in order to restore order, of course, with far reaching consequences. They are losing too many men.
2. Negligently allowing the regions to slip into the hands of hot-headed separatists who, so far, have no clear governance and developmental plan.

However, acting on restructuring NOW will empower the current of political class and intelligentsia in different geopolitical regions to assume control with little destructive disruption with the armed forces restoring order. I suggest the following actions immediately:

-- NASS leadership should immediately wake members up from ongoing slumber to do their duties.
-- Set up a joint NASS Restucturing Committee
-- Meet and convince Nigerian Governors' Forum to set up regional committees covering broad interests to negotiate transfer of critical things on exclusive list to concurrent list and other federations issues.
-- Amend the constitution to reflect the new political realities of Nigeria.

Northern Nigerian legislators and politicians should note that any attempt to frustrate immediate restructuring of the Nigeria at this critical point will bring nothing but doom.

Good point here. This way if Ipob or Fulani boys pull show anywhere, it will no longer be "Buhari how far?". Instead it will be "(insert regional president/administrator name)_______________ how far?". FG has to adopt the same method that major oil exloration companies have done in Nigeria. Just like the oil companies offloaded problematic oilfields (irrespective of how lucrative they were), the FG should offload problematic regions. Its just simple good business sense.

To what exactly? It’s all good, but while that’s being done. Take a very pragmatic approach to tackle the situation of now, because of the perceived incompetence of the government each geopolitical zone seems to be creating their ragtag security outfits which if not governed properly may pose a bigger problem in the future.

Now all this talk I have above is if, you guys are not deliberately turning this country into the cesspool it’s aiming at. If the cesspool plan is legit your intention, then keep lying to us and doing nothing.

Good luck with that

Let the federal government first compel the 12 northern sharia states to renounce their adoption of unconstitutional Islamic Sharia criminal laws.

All the insecurity in Nigeria today came from the adoption of Islamic Sharia criminal laws by those northern states.

The actors want different countries and are calling for REFERENDUM, you think they will settle for RESTRUCTURING?

Restructuring is meeting the actors halfway. Restructuring will achieve the same regional developmental results but with less disruptions.

Break down what you mean by restructuring. Do you mean more autonomy to the 36 states and possibly the emergence of state police? Do you mean more resource control? Do you mean more efficiency?

Fat lie — even though I didn't bother reading what he said. You guys know nothing about security and governance.

A country that wants to handle security must first of all have a working satellite. Obasanjo was the only one who launched one, but when it disappeared, everyone kept mute.

This is to say: no elite cares about the security of the masses as long as they have the money to travel out during crisis.

Security in Nigeria can only be handled with technology, not gun or men in uniform.

Look at this Clown that calls himself VP.
What are you still doing in a Terrorists filled govt?
Do you think they like your face?
Do you think your helicopter crash was natural?
Continue to fool yourself.
All I know is that you are part of the problem... Because in years to come when we name the people who were in this Terrorists govt, Yemi Osibanjo will definitely be 2nd on that list.

I don't see him as a genuine pastor a real man of God would have since honorably resigned during the beginning of this bloodthirsty buhari's nepotic regime when thausands of innocent christains where brutally massacred in southern kaduna and benue. The man is just after money and power nothing else.

First step is reviewing the exclusive list in the constitution to give more developmental powers to the regions to explore their resources in the best ways they think and pay a percentage to FG. Of course FG retains national security and NPF regulating community policing to dilute ethnicity-driven abuses. In any case, we have Switzerland, Canada, US, etc to look at to adopt what is best for us given our peculiarities.

Why can those who want their own country have a say? What's wrong with referendum?

Look, referendum doesn't guarantee a new country for promoters. There will for/against campaign for months before the referendum. So, if the majority goes with "against", the promoters of secession will never accept that the exercise was free and fair, which portends more problems. In any case, there is currently no referendum clause in our constitution to invoke. Furthermore, the promoters of secession have not demonstrated anything different from typical Nigeria's strategic development planlessness.

A referendum in a country that can't hold an election.

You're dismissing referendum - YES/NO as unworkable, but you want to promote 'restructure' despite not knowing what it meant, or how it will be done, and it's pitfalls. Or you think 'restructuring' will not require constitutional amendment, just as Referendum?

Isn't it the same people who are promoting referendum, that will implement 'restructure'? Or you're going to import people from Mars to do that?

All am saying, Government should listen to the people and give them what they want. They should stop assuming they know better than them when it come to what they want. You'll only be postponing the doomsday!

This is very important and state governors also need to be actively involved in actions to ensure safety of lives and property. The VP has been an advocate for community policing, I think this should be looked into alongside recruitment and proper training of security personnels.
