A friend of mine works with a company in zaria where he is paid 80k plus small small commission, he lives in a clean a room and parlour self contain, he recently got a job of 130k with small small commission too in Lagos .
He is seeking advice on whether to relocate or stay back .

P.s - zaria is a small town filled with students and no chance for proper career advancement

He needs some threshold of "madness" to survive in Lagos. He better stay back.

Lagos na jungle, forget what you see on social media, better stay in Zaria. Unless the salary is at least 2x what he receives in Zaria, stay put. By the time Lagosians’ madness and traffic hit your guy…him go contact

Zaria is a big City, on your decision discuss with those that matter most to your life like parents, wife and siblings that are blunt and then their advice will help you make a decision.

I left zaria even dough I know cost of living is low, accommodation is cheap. But I will only be a local champion staying back. But 130k job in Lagos far out weigh, let him get himself to lagos.aside the expenses and every other thing, lagos exposure will open him up to a lot of opportunities.

But most importantly, let him pray. Changing location is not a simple decision. There are billionaires in zaria,I know some and there are very poor people in lagos despite the opportunities. Hear from God and act base on instruction.

what are u going to do in Zaria for Haven sake, can't u see the kidnapping going on there,my brother forget about cheap things ur life matters alot even me that's living in Abuja is not safe, use ur head

lol !
Every where is not safe. be it Lagos or Zaria, Only God who give safety. reason why I think Zaria will be better .

1. Low cost of living .
2. Serenity, Zaria is better than Lagos in that aspect.
3. Less Traffic, As a matter of facts I school in Zaria, I don't think I have come in contact with traffic when going back to school.
4. Advantage if you roll with the hausa people, you can farm, buy food at a cheaper rate.
5. You will worry about kidnappers unlike Lagos, Gunmen, Kidnappers, tribal conflict, cultist clash and the rest.

Zaria please provided the Area Is secured from Bandits and all sorts. Lagos Is currently the worst place for any "SANE HUMANS" to live. But the "BURNT FACES HAGGARD LOOKING PEOPLE" loves the state like Kilode, The madness, stress, dirtiness, and all sort of evil Vices In Lagos Is second to none In the world. Extreme Polluted Carbon dioxide. It's their own Las Vegas......

True, the environment of Zaria won't expose one to the outter world. I would advise he do a proper check and balance before migrating. if not he will regret !!

Also he should be ready to pay alot ! the cost of living in Zaria is cheap compare to Lagos. I doubt that money will be enough to keep him judging by the cost of living there - Lagos.

If not for the advantage of exposure Zaria is better than Lagos.

well he should ask God for direction !!!
100k monthly which one is cost if living there? with dat amount he is comfortable

If you're ambitious, move to Lagos. If you're laid back, remain in Zaria.

P.S. There is no friend here, you're the person in question.

O my beloved zaria..

baba tell him to remain in zaria. 80k in zaria is big money, 130k in lagos is nothing.
Shika to Sabon gari is not more than ₦100, that same distance in Lagos is ₦1000

But their are opportunities in lagos and it's very stressful here in lagos while in zaria if he lost that job(God forbid), getting a ₦80k job is hard.

NB: I also left zaria for lagos

That 80k in Zaria should be equivalent to 200k in Lagos.
Plus the emotional stress and drain associated with living in Lagos.
Tell your "friend" it is better to be a king in a one eyed town than to become a normal person in a 2 eyed town.

80k In Zaria Is equivalent to 300k In Lagos. I always pity people who doesn't have a good pay Job In Lagos and they are paying house rent up to 150k yearly. Them Just dey work for Landlords.....

Exposure is not about the town but the job. Which of the jobs has better prospects for growth and personal development.

Zaria could have been better, but the insecurity up north is in an alarming state. As someone mentioned if the person is a northerner its cool, but if a southerner its not worth the risk presently. Can the friend cope with the insecurity along Zaria-Abuja highway? Except he/she takes train always. The area is prone to religious crises too. Lagos is not that bad, it depends on where one live.

It's not your friend, it's you.

I've lived in both cities and I'll advise you to stay in Zaria. Food, housing and transportation are cheaper in Zaria than in Lagos. And let's not talk about the stress of living and working in Lagos. The 50,000 won't make much difference. Lagos troubles will zap it off.
house rent, food inflation etc in Lagos would make him wish for Zaria back

Bro, I will advice you to come to Lagos and that your 130k will do just enough if you get accommodation close to where you work.
But if you are convinced staying back in Zaria, please connect me to the Lagos job. I need it badly. Thank you and God no go shame us
