Almost 48 hours after being knocked out of the Champions League, Neymar posted his first message on social media. He said he felt “sad after the loss”, but “proud of his team’s commitment”.

Neymar has struggled to come the terms with the Champions League exit. The match was on Tuesday night and it was not until Thursday afternoon when the Brazilian made his first comments on social media.
“I find it difficult to type as I’m still very sad about the defeat, but proud of the commitment from the whole team. We did the best we could,” the Brazilian wrote on Instagram.

Neymar’s message includes a photo of him crouching down looking at the floor, “Unfortunately, our best wasn’t enough, but we can still improve,” he said.

“Let our heads drop? Only to play and thank you, regardless of the circumstances,” the PSG star concluded. He missed his teammate Mbappe at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Neymar was one of those most criticised after the second leg. In France they called him “a genius without ideas” and “disappointing”.
