Hhmm... I am man and having lived 'all my life' in another man's country where I am the minority, I clearly understand the need for equality or equity as the case may be. But do you really mean what you just said? Do Nigerians really want that? Do Nigerians really want gender equality or is it that when we talk about situations where women get pity (mostly physical abuse), we say women and men should be treated equally. But when it comes to other social issues, we remember a man and woman can never be equal? I do not come to Nigeria often but judging from what I read on here, I believe women even have more reasons to seek gender equality in Africa.

Permit me to share with you: if she's rich and single, she's ashawo. If she's hit at home, she doesn't bring peace of mind or talks too much. If the husband cheats, she should understand men are naturally polygamous. If she's raped, it's cause of her dressing. If she sacks anyone at work, women are naturally wicked. If her boyfriend leaves her, the guy is "my G" for using them girls. If she's a leader, she must have slept her way through. If she's a celebrity, she's a prostitute. If she has issues with another lady, women are thier own problem. If she does nothing, Nigerian girls are useless, all of them. It's as if we are the saints who never do wrong and even when we do, we reconfigure the women to live with it. It baffles me how Nigerians criticise ladies for sleeping around while hailing men for doing the same thing. Who do they think the men are sleeping with? Dogs?

So you see, while agree with you that women should be held accountable when they abuse people physically, I also believe that equality should be extended to other aspects especially those aspects that require cultivating positive mindset.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk. cheesy

I agree with most of what you said, but we also have our own equal share of the prejudice. I really do not want to go in-depth, I really do not. I could write a whole book about it!

Oh, you're welcome. Cheers!

...this goes a long way to say an average Nigerian is not thinking right and our ability to see things the way they are is very poor...what I see in that video was a guy hitting the hand of a lady to let go of his cloth.... I wonder why people are changing the narrative.... From most of the comments I saw, it is obvious about 80% of those who commented did not watch the video
As a lecturer she could teach or correct if the guy wronged her is that how she could have done to her own son, the truth is she behaved like a market woman

One sided story, for him to act this way, don't be too quick to judge, you have no idea how passively aggressive these lecturers especially the female one can be.

There's a guy in my set then, he was hated by this female lecturer no one knew why, anytime she's steps in the class, she picks at him, tries to embarrass him all the time or simple ask him to stand up while others seat or walk him out of the class. We never knew why she treated him that way, he was matured enough to not respond aggressively after taking two carry overs from her courses, it was after school he told me , he once dated the daughter of the woman but didn't end up marrying her after many years of courtship, the woman couldn't stand the sight of him.

A young man cannot just become violent like this, worse off are those idiots using their camera and doing nothing to stop the situation from deteriorating , is this a university or advance primary school. (Okay, names checks out , all these new generation private secondary school, the guy self dey wear uniform, lol) it's only in private university that lecturers try to control students as if they're in the primary school, one reason the students from these school come out and begin to misbehave , because they have not experienced life all their lives, so in real world they try to catch up with all the enjoyment they missed

Omo this one get mind ooo. How dare you beat your lecturer.
When some lecturers sef go dey misbehave, she probably had the guy in mind since. Those female lecturers can find the flimsiest of excuse to embarrass you, especially when they notice there are many girls around watching & if you check it, he's probably not the only student in the office that's not wearing tie. I'm sure she's even the one that hit the guy first. Seen where guys dey beat hostel porter gan, so it's nothing new! grin grin

He wanted to sign a document but she insisted that he must wear his tie before she allows him anywhere near the document.. And the baba insisted that he must sign the document as him don already dress up come.., na so them begin drag.
Since when did knotting tie become compulsory before signing a document? Some women can be very vindictive over mundane things. Besides the guy's room might be on the top floor of the hostel & climbing that staircase to go and wear tie can be very stressful especially if he's asthmatic. What's there in just allowing him sign and go? She has had the guy in mind before, their beef didn't just start. angry

before a student can do this in an expensive secondary University like abuad, then you should know he doesn't care what happens next

You can never get justice in Nigeria. A woman assaults a man, he should not fight back. Why? Where is it written that a man should not react when hit first by a woman? The bible? The constitution? The quran? Oga where is it written. If you hit me then you've started something you can't finish. Why would a woman hit a man in the first place? Eheh u want to be hit back na.

All these bullshit and emotional displays from even men is really annoyin to me. Look at some ediots in this post saying they will kill the guy for probably reacting in the calmest way he could to serious assault from a woman.

Do you people know what hitting is? If the guy really hit the woman, will she be standing?

If I didn't hit u first and you hit me because you think you be woman, the beating I go give u eh, u no go believe. Nonsense.

Oga, i remembered a new rule then in uniben, no earpiece on ur ear while walking, i didn't take it serious, a hostel porter from girl hostel, saw me and dragged it frm my ear and seize it, that was 2013,i have to follow the lady and begged her just released the earpiece, after staying with her for over an hr, she told me to get her drink and snack and she released it, every schools has his rules and conducts, in his own case, tie was one of the dressing code, he should have just obeyed or just politely plead with her to let him do wat he came there to do, mine, earpiece was banned in uniben at that time due to accidents that happened at ugbowo road, and if u are caught, u may end up facing disciplinary panel, i just had to use maturity to follow her, not to enter trouble and also get back my beloved earpiece, he should have diplomatically done it in a way to free himself, who knows wat he said or did that an elderly woman will end up holding his trouser so firm, he should have use his head, he hasn't even graduated, even if he has graduated and taken his result, the skol also ve alright to recall his result or certificate
Chair, I know what you're saying and it is sad that everyone Is misusing any small power they think they have. Seizing your headphones is theft. And unfortunately our lawyers are too hungry to test our constitutional freedom. Schools can not make unconstitutional rules. But na naija we de. I just think the woman too should jus have got his name instead of trying to fight with a man. She is lucky he is a weakling. He for wounjure her seriously. Anyway, we move as a nation of confusion

I’m just seeing it now that you’ve been asking pointless questions here, probably you’re the guy, who knows?

It is clear you don't know your rights
And if you know them you will give them up for small peace
It is normal for cowards
And we all know how cowards end up On their knees their whole life

It's your choice sha
Enjoy

I’m from Ekiti State, and I know ABUAD very well, it’s not your regular government university (I attended one of course) where misconducts are grossly allowed. In schools like that, students get punished for even lesser offenses.
We’ve read of such here, what’s bad in asking you put on your ties as required in your current environment( if it were to be me, no one would even have to ask me before I do that),

So if Boko tells you to wear hijab you will wear without question?
Or if Some tyrant says you must walk about naked or else ,you will agree abi, no questions asked

How many people wear ties everyday in Nigeria
Apart from bankers and lawyers
Who else wears ties everyday

if he had obliged to the simple instruction, would there be altercations? If he was simply rude EOD!

Guns are illegal in Nigeria
Is Boko following the rules
Why You don't EOD that one
Everyone using their power
But violence is the Supreme power
What if the guy comes for her at night where there is no help
Will fighting over tie be worth it
Think before you act
Not everyone will take such matters lying down
One day you will jam the person that will not forgive you

As I’ve wrote before, you’ve been asking several people up there pointless question, so in that regards, this is my last response to you sir, adios!
Questions are pointless you morons and dictators
But everyone of them learn the lesson the hard way
No more questions
Just hard lessons

Till then
Enjoy running your mouth here

How is jerking your shirt asking to dress properly?
You're missing everything on purpose, but continue, till you jam the wrong one

He was simply asked to dress properly. He lacked proper parental upbringings, or he chose to ignore them.
And the next thing is for weaker sex to engage him Physically?

If Boko Or soldier enter your house would you jerk his shirt Even if you're right to stop him trespassing?
Think before you act in this Third world country of ours
