Nigerian Election Disruptors Should Be Denied U.K Visas by VGSocial: 4:49pm On May 19, 2021
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, disclosed that the United Kingdom, UK, would deny visas to Nigerians who disrupt the 2023 elections. Also, a report by the Nigerian Authorities (2019) stated that Nigeria loses over $1 billion annually to medical tourism. Thus, a visa denial following electoral misconduct will have severe cons on the Nigerian political elites who are notorious in their quest for foreign treatments and visitations. Some say implementing this visa denial policy will not only put politicians in check but pave way for a violent free election in Nigeria.
However, some opine that denying individuals who disrupt elections visas is an encroachment on Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states that

- "Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state."

- "Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country"
