The Honourable Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has dismissed reports claiming the NYSC scheme is set to be scrapped, Newspremises reports.

Two days ago, it was widely speculated that the one-year mandatory scheme for all graduates will be scrapped following the second reading of a bill in the House of Representatives seeking to end the scheme which some feel has outlived its usefulness.

Addressing the speculations on his Twitter handle this morning, the Minister said the government is committed to sustaining the scheme.

"The NYSC scheme remains one of the greatest tools for National development for our youth. The commitment of the government to sustaining the NYSC scheme remains. Dynamic Reforms and Initiatives towards current realities are ongoing. Nigeria will stand with her youth,''

Let them give every student a grant after passing out then.
The grant needs to be forgivable and equivalent to all NYSC remuneration, or more.

NYSC has lost is purpose, it should be scrapped

It will be one of the greatest undoing of this government to scrap NYSC at a time the country is at the brim of breaking up. It will be more like say "let the ball role!"

NYSC must not be mandatory.give people the option of paying large sums to opt out and use the money to pay corpers that serve better

Give people who serve right of first offer for Goverment jobs and offers like the US does for its veterans

Send corpers to serve in their regions or State of origin for their safety

It is the north that needs corpers, thats why they have not bothered fixing their education and skilled labour gaps.There' s corpers to serve their communities while their safety is not even assured by the same communities.

Dont get me started on all kinds of abuse reported by corpers with no scheme to protect them or at least investigate such.This is the time to address that.Stop putting young people at risk.NYSC is not worth the life of 1 corper or the grief of their family.

Nigeria will never stop reforming just the main reason things are not working. like you said we either hit the ground running or start from the scratch, rather than keep patching, amending and trying unrealistic methodology.
I believe every public office holder should be force to write a test and present a paper work on how he or she is going to come about delivering for any portfolio they are in charge.
outline your procedure, time frame, for delivering to the citizens.

A youth Minister that can't advocate for the youth is useless....
