Aburi accord kee yah father there.

Your miserable pathetic life is now confirmed doomed till eternity so in your foolishness it was Awolowo that encouraged breaching Aburi accord. When your father is done telling his cock n bull delusion he will be on NL to wake you up from your self induced foolishness.

Point of correction Mr Osoba, do not try to rewrite history.

Fake news did not trigger the 1967 civil war because the pogroms were already ongoing in the North before the war.
The civil war was triggered by the Hausa-Fulani leaders' decision to jettison a perfect resolution to the volatility that was agreed upon at Aburi, Ghana.

Sadly, this breach of agreement was encouraged by the Yoruba elites like Awolowo, Mobolaji Johnson and Adebayo who never considered that the accord was to their favour as well.
Today Sanwo-Olu is fighting for a special state status for Lagos State. Would he have to do that if his kinsmen didn't sabotage the struggle for a federated nation of sovereign areas?

The civil war could have been prevented if only Yakubu Gowon kept to his side of the bargain.

Just like as in January 4th of 1967, the escalations going on right now can only be defused by regionalizing the nation and abolishing the 1999 Constitution to create one that won't encourage the impoverishment of him who should be rich to enrich him that should be poor.

It is not fair that it is okay for someone from Kebbi who scored 110 in JAMB gets admitted on merit for Medicine in a prestigious university while another from Anambra who scores 360 can't get into the same school for the same course.

It is also not fair that it is okay to see a Fulani man clutching daggers and machete while a Yoruba man who holds a pen-knife is arrested for being in possession of dangerous weapons.

Is it fair that the proceeds of Crude oil gotten from the Niger Delta region are spent in the North while the proceeds of Gold mining only belong to Zamfara?

Is it fair that Kano State should benefit from proceeds of alcohol sale through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) despite sabotaging the profitability of Alcoholic Breweries and threatening their existence by destroying alcoholic drinks?

To think it is okay for Bagudu to get some of Sani Abacha's recovered loot but the Federal Government has the exclusive right of that of James Ibori and not even Delta State whose funds it is in the first instance.

If different laws apply for different people, then it is only fair to split the country so as not to make anyone feel disenfranchised.

This is common sense but my suggestions can't be taken seriously since my only forte is in masturbationn.

Bro, this your comment dey give me joy. Good bless you for this.

I have a question..

I read on Nairaland few weeks ago that Nnamdi azikwe was a nepotistic leader..

They said when he was serving Nigeria, his cabinet was filled with igbos..

He even made an Igbo man a UI VC. This is what pained me most after reading the article on Nairaland..

How was he able to archive making an Igbo man UI VC?

Is it true that he was Nepotistic?

If he was truly nepotistic, then Buhari has been serving Igbos what Igbos served Nigeria when they were holding power!

UI matter is the reason they killed Akintola, he asked Okoli the VC why all the vacancies at UI were filled with Igbos and Yorubas were made to work as gardeners, messengers and cleaners?.
Was it so bad, that as big as the SW is, Okoli cannot find primary six certificate holders, that could be employed as an ordinary clerk?.

LegendHero:
Many things led to the civil war Chief Osoba, do you want to say you don’t know history or you’re just trying to be politically correct?

Often many people believed the killing of Saraduana and Balewa are what led to the North uprising against the Ibos in the North but this is half truth. The Unitary decree of Aguiyi Ironsi caused as much harm as the coup. Infact, it was what led to the initial killing of Ibos in the North, and gave the fertile ground for the counter-coup.

I will give timelines of events below, if anyone need proof of any of the point I raise I will provide it.

Besides the killings of other tribesleader by the majorly coupist of Jan 1966 which everyone knows, the below are some other side of the story.

Decree of 1966:
--May 1966, Ironsi announced that the regions are dissolved and there will be unification of the Public Service.
-- Note: The Ibos have the highest number of civil service candidates then and they are more itinerant than other group, which implies that decree will favor them.
--That decree was popular in the East and the Northerners received it as a blow on them and an act of marginalization against them because they have low number of civil servant. Remember Saraduana video that was trendy then.
--To crown the fears of the Northerers, General Ironsi announced the unification decree while the constitutional report group he set up under the chairmanship of Chief Rotimi Williams haven't concluded their report yet. So he acted on this own.

Riots due to the Decree:
--May 28,1966, A massive demonstration of about 20,000 people held against Ironsi decree in Kano which was organized to present a petition by the military authorities through the Emir of Kano. Slogans used were "Pure Federalism or We Bust", "We denounce abuse of power", We Separate Clearly". Infact that was when the North preached secession. 7 people were reportedly killed that day

Kano, Kaduna, and mining centers of Jos and Bukuru again protested with violence with placards saying "Let there be seccession". Infact over 92 people were killed in that weekend demonstration. They burnt Southerners quarter, houses and over-turned cars. Ironsi replied to the protest by saying he will declare certain area military areas, replace civil court with military court, and death penalty to anyone causing destruction in the North. He also accused the Arab world of being behind the protesters coz they are friends to Saraduana.

In June 1966, The government declared Dusk to Dawn curfew and these riots and killing still continued with rumors in the North that the Ibos will counter-attack. I don't know if Chief Osoba is referring to this.

--Over 100 emirs and Chiefs in the North gave an ultimatum to the Ironsi government to reject the decree. The resolution was presented by the 65-year old Sultan of Sokoto then who is also the uncle of Saraduana where they demanded Nigeria should stay Federal, and old boundaries should remain as before.

--The progom continues with several Ibos being killed across the North. The North sensed domination of the Ibos because the constitutional study group haven't submitted their report yet but Ironsi still abolished the system. Then the sentiment is that Ironis is running a Ibo regime just like people are talking about Fulani regime now. Gombe, Katsina, Bauchi also joined in the attacks mainly against the Ibos.

Counter Coup:
--July 1966, the mutineers arrested Ironsi and later killed him which set the ball rolling for more violent attacks here and there. Brigadier Ogundipe who is the Chief of Staff to Ironsi made a broadcast saying the military is still in control with but what happened in few days after showed that the mutineers want none of Ironsi regime and are all out for revenge. Cut story short, Gowon took power.

--Aug 1966, Gowon took power as a Northerner, first it is decisive, he is a Christian and he is from the minority so he is seen as a great asset not only in Uniting the North as a common force but also to appear to the South as being relatively acceptable. Then he ordered the release of Awolowo, Enahoro and other political prisoners which was a masterstroke, now you have the buy-in of some Awo symphatizers who are by far the vast majority of the Yorubas and some of the Edo areas.

All these contributed to other riots, killings, thousand Ibos killed in the North, Ibos retaliated in Port Hacourt killing 25 Hausas, plane evacuating Ibos, and eventually the civil war as the ending game.

You are blatant lier the killings of Ignos had started in the North before 1966 coup.

Did that led to civil war?

Do you know how many number of ethnic clashes that have happened between 1970 to present between both Yorubas, Hausas, and Igbos? Did they led to a war?

What I opined up there was a political motivated killings which was caused by the constitutional abolishment and killings of tribesleader of other people.

During the first coup, Igbo coup plotters killed Premier of the Western Region, the Prime Minister who was an Hausa man but conveniently forgot to kill Azikiwe who was an Igbo man.

Ironsi came into the picture and refused to execute the coup plotters because they were Igbos. Instead, he, delayed and moved them to Igboland.

Meanwhile, after the execution of Tafawa Balewa, Igbos in the North were laughing and making fun of Northerners.

I don't know if it was AFP who told the Igbo coup plotters not to kill their fellow Igbos or it was AFP who told Ironsi not to execute the Igbo coup plotters.
If it was delay Ironsi delayed because a panel had been set up to commence with their trial from August 66. Gowon's committee was to submit the final report(go to the archives and look for the proceeding of SMCs meetings in May 66).
Only Nzeogwu, Onwuatuegwu and Gbulie were in Enugu prison, Ademoyega and Fola Oyewole the Yoruba planners in that coup were in Calabar prison. Anuforo and Donatus Okafor were in Benin prison that was why they were killed in the July 66 coup. Please get your facts before you spread lies here.

Ojukwu released Awolowo, Ironso had also already assented to it on July 27th before he was murdered on the 29th.
