To both yoruba and igbo arguing. This is not colonial era and we need to stop living to the comments of this white people. Even before this insecurity issue, they never portray any african country as a good place to come. I currently stay in the US and I can tell you that the crime rate in US is insane, especially the gun violence. So many people as gone to grocery store, gas station, mall, and never return because they are been killed. Another recent gun violence happen in Miami and California like few days ago that claimed a lot of lives. I bet you won't know that cause you think white land are heaven. Nigeria security is bad now but I believe it will be short term as soon as this Buhari of a thing leaves or we restructure or may be even split up. But for now, south west is definitely the safest place in nigeria based on the news I read on nairaland and other sources.

Yes, another civil war will lead to total disintegration of Nigeria, no escaping at all. The world has changed and as the most populous African country, other Africa country and Europe won’t be able to even contain the refugee crisis.

However let me be the devils advocate, the war would have been going on for one year + before they even know it’s a war and you’re looking at lot of casualties. But in that scenario, people can say the casualties are what we needed for freedom. Infact we are systematically in a war right now.

Not that I’m actually abusing the SE when I said they don’t have that much bargaining power in revenue, it is the reality. Just look at it, what exactly can be destroyed in the SE that will shake and ground Nigeria? Please reply me and I will agree to your answer if it is logical enough.

Lastly, the Yoruba will not be neutral in any war, we won’t. We must take sides because any war in Nigeria will affect the Yoruba so badly so we must take sides. The dynamics have changed, Ibo and Yoruba are now too mixed that it might be near impossible to leave them to their fate. Also Yorubaland is like the sanctuary, if anything happen in Iboland, people will move here to live and it will be nearly impossible for us not to accept them.

Hence, if I am a Yoruba leader, I will be preparing and won’t just sit down and be caught unaware like we were in the 60s. I don’t know how this will end, but if UGM matter escalates in the SE and the SW were also caught in the wave, we can’t be neutral.

The Fulanis have made it certain for a Yoruba-North alliance to be near Impossible.

Please stop arguing with that 1stson character. I'm Igbo and I have to admit your analysis is apt and of point. Let him be talking about IPob, Refinery and uploading pictures. He fails to realise the population of Igbos in the SW.

I can bet my left blokos that the Ibo man was killed by his fellow Ibo man in Ibadan. Probably a business or drug deal gone wrong.

Saharareporters just need to catch on the current cruise and tag it Ibo businessman killed in Ibadan to generate traffic.

However the Yorubas have evolved. We don’t waste time on irrelevant news and that was why it doesn’t generate the required traffic and sentiment Saharareporter wanted.

Yes nowhere is safe in Nigeria, but SW is relatively peaceful than SE and that’s a fact. Come on clubhouse and see how Igbos In the SW spoke about them scared of going home to the East currently. Most are in Lagos.

The Yoruba's can remain neutral, we have nothing at stake or any investment in the south east, their cousins in the south south should first join them. The interrelationships are largely over hyped and are even mostly SS minorities. In the event of war, the smart thing SW governors should do is to implement anti refugee laws. Secure Ondo borders and let it play out.....let wike and obaseki house their political cousins. Yorubaland is not a sanctuary region, we're still dealing with alot of shit.

Anti refugee law? Man that's insane.

Lol! You're very funny. Even before all this high level insecurity in the country, South East has always been a very dangerous place... especially at night. Sorry, I love my igbo brothers and sisters, but this is a fact. I served in Anambra over 10 years ago and stayed over for a while after one year youth service. There is no week that you won't hear of robbery and killing on the road from Otuocha to Onitcha. To go and drink at night sef, na war.

I remember the first time I got to Onitsha from Lagos around 7pm with my duffle bag, see as the people were looking at me. I was wondering what was going on till one woman selling something on the road side came to me and said I could get killed cos they would think I am carrying money in that bag. She told me one guy just got killed at that same spot last night when he was fighting back while being robbed. I had to run into one Catholic church around the park to sleep that night.

Even when I went back to see my girlfriend in Onitsha around 2012, I had to tip one guard with money to walk with us with his shortgun when we were going to eat at night.

Just face the fact, South West is still and has always been the safest region in Nigeria.

I don’t buy the B***t from Garuba and we SW’ners understand the game play of the Northerners.

Currently we are the bride that the Igbos and Northerners are trying to court because we are the only card needed by both side to tilt this in their favor and I will explain.

—Nigeria military is currently weak and have been fighting on all fronts. Bandits, Boko Haram, Unknown Gunmen, and etc.

—Nnamdi Kanu already took the step of making it red in the SE, thinking the FG will come and bargain and he can hold them down by burning everything down.

—While that approach may be good, it is not foolproof.
Firstly, the SE as a region is not that important to Nigeria revenue and that’s a fact. The SS have the crude oil installations and if they start blowing pipes and burning everything down, the FG won’t have a choice than to come to bargain.
Secondly, Lagos is another revenue source for Nigeria and the seaports and taxes is a big source to the FG including that Ogun border. If the Yorubas start blowing up the seaports and Lagos airports in uprisings, the FG will come to bargain.

—Also the FG cannot fight a combined South and win easily so they are being careful. That is exactly why they won’t invade Yorubaland when Igboho did Oduduwa rallies coupled with the fact that our governors still have some leadership in them compared to the SE governors.

—Hence based on the above, without the necessary alliance from both the South South militants and the Yoruba extreme radicals, Nnamdi Kanu approach will only bring killings without path to success because SE going up in flames doesn’t affect Nigeria revenue and business can still continue. FG can kill thousands with back and forth win and loses on both side but status quo will still remain. Just count the number of casualties on both side since these UGM started and those deaths we don’t even hear of online.

—I think Kanu also know of the need for this alliance which explained why he has been courting the Oduduwa agitators and looking for Yoruba friendship.

—Also SE governor are useless and have projected themselves as powerless in all this. They don’t have enough courage to tell the FG to stop and don’t have the popularity to weaken Keanu’s influence too so they just left everything to fate.

—Now this is what is still sketchy, can Sunday Igboho heed the call and go militant like ESN? Will he be able to pull that stunt among the Yorubas that are not dogmatic? How long can he burn installations to retain the Yoruba’s loyalty and uncommon sense? Will it be possible looking at the fact that the SW populations doesn’t have that much resentment as a block like the SE’ners have due to the sentiment of Biafra?

Finally, there is one thing I know that I’m 99% sure of. If all these eventually lead to an unexpected war, the Yorubas will not fight on the side of the Northerners.

I’ll just watch as things unfold!

Am shocked & sad when we the ingenious people of this country have come to the realisation that d Federal Government in its current state can kill it's citizens and be comfortable in their BLOOD

But the Evil (terrorists) men in power should remember
Adonai said to Kayin, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he replied, “I don’t know; am I my brother’s guardian?” He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s BLOOD is crying out to me from the ground! Now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood at your hands.

We Yoruba actually love the North because we felt they fear God almighty but now Isreal has shown to us terrorists must be dealt with
Think of it they want our Fathers land for their cows so they have been killing us for a decade now
How long must we suffer this great evil all because of Cow
The jokes on us man if we can't come together to protect our culture & heritage

The bloods are crying out but first We Yoruba must acknowledge & seek forgiveness for our path in that brutal civil genocide called war then we can separate from that evil blood sucking spirit ushered forth in the north

It seems Garba Shehu is high on cheap weed. That man talk carelessly and stupidly at times. The only place in Nigeria that has not seem some form of violence is Lagos. Most people in Lagos seem insulated from what is happening in the country other than that other places in south west are heating up. The other time Igboho and his guys opened Idiroko border after engaging in gunshots with Customs.

Until you unravel the mystery behind the so called "unknown gunmen", you shouldn't ascribe the blame to anyone yet.
IPOB had existed for some years.
ESN arose to defend from Fulani killers. Everyone knows this, and you yourself cannot fault this.
UGM suddenly emerged and began killing policemen, as well as destroying police stations and other FG structures in the SE.
Check the identity of the policemen killed so far: mostly Igbos

So, if you are sure that Igbo men masquerading as UGM killed mostly Policemen of same ethnicity, then you can make your claim.
It is beginning to emerge that FG is behind UGM.
FG needed to create unrest in SE to be able to advance it's cause. Keep your eyes on the end game.

The misnomer UGM was coined by pro government agencies in the news and popular media.
Same way FG has tried to defuse the identity of Boko Haram by coming up with names such as "bandits" and "hoodlums"
Why is govt comfortable with mere fishing out nomenclatures and expect all of us to live with it?
Is that what FG's job has reduced to?
You think the pro Fulani, pro North FG is happy whenever the SE is touted as the safest region in the country?
