The crisis rocking the Edo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken a different dimension as two-thirds of the state working committee of the party has asked the Chairman of the state PDP, Tony Aziegbemi to step aside.

According to a statement made available to ait.live by the state publicity secretary of the party, Chris Nehikhare the decision is to pave way for proper investigation into allegations of gross misconduct levied against Tony Aziegbemi.

The latest development is the fallout of a meeting of the State Working Committee at the state party secretariat on Tuesday, 1 June 2021 where the two-thirds majority of members resolved in a motion that the state chairman Tony Aziegbemi should be suspended from his position.

The statement further reads Harrison Omagbon will act in his place until the determination of the allegations brought against him.

The Edo state PDP exco has also constituted a three man Investigative Committee headed by the State Legal Adviser Barrister Arthur Esene, with a mandate to report back to the Working Committee within one week. Other members of the Committee are Mrs. Linsdale Tes Sorae the State Woman Leader and Dr. Wilson Imongan, State Auditor.

Nehikhare went further to say that the suspended state chairman, Tony Aziegbemi has been roped and entangled by his actions and inactions in the management of the affairs of the party.

Reacting to the said suspension via telephone chat with ait.live the man in the eye of the storm Tony Aziegbemi said he remains the state chairman of Edo PDP, describing the statement on circulation by the state publicity secretary as fake news.

Aziegbemi said no such decision was taken at the last state executive meeting held on June 1 2021.

My attention has been drawn to the malicious publication signed by Mr. Chris Nehikhare, the PDP publicity secretary that, the state chairman of PDP, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi has been suspended by the state working committee of the party.

This publication by Mr. Chris Nehikhare is embarrassing, provocative, misleading, and mischievous. There was never a time where the state working committee members met and decided that the chairman Dr. Tony Aziegbemi should be suspended. All the claims in that Mr. Chris Nehikhare’s publication were merely falsified, manipulated, and conjured by him, his paymaster, and his cohorts.

I am a member of PDP state working committee. Currently, l am the PDP state youth leader. We were with the state chairman yesterday the 1st day of June, 2021 till the close of work at about 4pm. While in the chairman’s office, there was nothing that is suggestive of chairman being suspended. It is very disturbing, disheartening, and embarrassing to read on the pages of social media this morning that, our chairman, who is a peace loving, friendly, amiable, enthusiastic, dedicated, and pragmatic leader has been labelled and maliciously maligned by an overzealous and satanic publicity secretary, whose only stock in trade is to pull others down. It is however unfortunate that we live in a society where honest and straight forward people are slaughtered in the altar of innocency and truthfulness.

The chairman Dr. Tony Aziegbemi has at all times strived to carry everybody along since he became the party’s chairman in the state. Some powers that be, who beleive that PDP in Edo state is their private and personal estate have tried every means to hijack the administration of the party in the state, even when they know what they are doing is wrong.

At this juncture, it is my honest and candid position, so as not to further embarrass ourselves and ridicule the party, Mr. Chris Nehikhare should immediately debunk all the claims in that satanic and devilish publication and with immediate effect tender an unreserved apology to the state chairman Dr. Tony Aziegbemi in person and the entire Edo state PDP in general.

Politics in general is a pure dirty game but Nigerians own is more dirtier.

Sometimes seeing the despicable things they do behind the scene, even to become politician you will reject it by a saner mind....

I have been close to a politician and if you see the sacrifices this people does behind the scene, it is jaw-dropping.
The fact is, there is money in politics, though not pure money in the sense of it;

But can you do the unimaginable things that only the willed and strong hearted does?

My guess is as good as yours.


We only play to be comfortable in life. Have peace of mind which is the most important, take care of your families inclusive of your parents, your children and your siblings, eat good food whenever you want to, sleep good & have a nice mobility and a house to call yours, then work harder to better your yesterday, then u are set.

To shade blood of innocents just to be in the echolen of power have its vices too.
