Our foundation design are done after consideration of the type of ground we are working on, the type of loads we are expecting on a foundation and the height of the foundation from the trenches.

In this instance, the ground beams were chosen for a more effective load distribution between foundation columns since we had a gentle slope in the land and all the column bases were not on the same level.

What is the importance of the pipe in this foundation, is it a must that all foundation will have one and if a foundation doesn't have one what's the disadvantage? Your response will highly be appreciated and add to my knowledge.

The pipes in the foundation are just provisions for conduit piping for waste or even water supply in or out of the house, it's a must for buildings which we plan to have conduit (internal) pipes running inside the walls, up through the lintels, the decking and up to the vent pipes. The house walls will now be built with the pipes running inside walls.

Advantages, neat clean walls without pipes showing everywhere,

Disadvantages, extra cost, extra time needed to fit the pipes.

There was a lot of difficulty in sourcing building materials like blocks and sand from this location. Too much demand has made these suppliers to be rationing building materials to us.

Had to hijack this load of sand heading to another site after toppling N5,000 to the driver. The going cost was N50,000, but I paid N55,000 just to keep the work going.

But our work continued after we got the materials..........

Its refreshing to see the change to contemporary designs here, and Anambra has had more than a fair share of imposing buildings over the years. I am sure many more people will copy this design and even improve on it as more years pass. I also have an offer from Imo state on another interesting and challenging contemporary design. I am looking forward to building more of these designs.
