Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, on Thursday, said President Muhammadu Buhari ‘has a choice between dialogue, on one hand, and an avoidable war against the Igbo, on the other.’

The organisation was reacting to the President’s interview on the Arise TV where he warned that the Igbo “are scattered everywhere in Nigeria with their businesses and property, and should not be making trouble.”

Buhari further said that Ndigbo, having been landlocked, would not be allowed any “access to the outside world by sea.”

According to him, “In any case, we said we will talk to them in the language they will understand. We will organise the police and the army to pursue them; that’s what we can do and we will do it.”

Ohanaeze, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Alex Ogbonnia, also recalled that on June 1, 2021, while addressing the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the Villa, President Buhari “vowed to shock those bent on destroying” his government.

Ohanaeze, while reiterating its stance in adopting dialogue to Nigeria’s current insecurity, quoted its president-general, Ambassador George Obiozor, on June 4, calling for a ‘dialogue to resolve the present national crises’.

It further said: “With the present level of violence in Nigeria, Nigeria has arrived at a critical juncture. Both history and literature show that the decision taken by a leader at a critical juncture has a lasting effect for the society.

“President Buhari has a choice between Dialogue on one hand and an avoidable War against the Igbo on the other. Again, history shows that our thoughts are very infinitesimal to the immutable Law of the Universe.”

It, however, observed some injustices targeted at Ndigbo to include: “Deliberate posting of northern military and police officers at the various strategic locations in the Southeast; special national security council meeting, where major decisions were taken for the South East and the South South to the utter exclusion of security personnel from the South East.

“Launching of the Operation Restore Peace in the South East and South South; shoot on sight order by the inspector general of police targeted at the Igbo youths. And the shock Twit where Mr President stated that ‘those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

The statement added: “Ohanaeze Ndigbo has cautioned that the unprecedented lopsidedness of the Nigerian government in favour of the Fulani, to the exclusion of other ethnic groups, especially in the security architecture, will rather exacerbate the internal security challenges in the country.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo believes that the agitation by the Igbo youth over marginalization is justified. In spite of the orchestrated alienation of the Igbo, we are committed to a diplomatic approach towards a restructured Nigeria that guarantees equity, fairness and rule of law.”

Our elders are now getting Sense... This is what the governors should have done... To protect the citizens...
You can't use violence to make peace...
Before the end of this year Nigeria will be in a bad condition than now...
APC need common sense...

This is how leaders should talk. Why should a big ethnic group like Ndigbo be threatened by a terrorist and our politicians will just keep quiet? It's unthinkable.
Daura or Sokoto is not covered with bomb proofs and no one has a monopoly of buying military aircrafts. The fulani terrorists think they can use threat of war to cage Igbos. It's very laughable. We shall see how it will end. This is 2021 and not 1967.

The present governors of the south east states are by far the most useless set of politicians to come out of igboland, and I'm happy IPOB has wrapped them together with the fulanis as the enemies... They will all receive the Ekweremadu treatment at the appropriate time.

When a man is full of hate, progress and success runs away from him.

Why this country is as static as it is since 2015 is because Bihari is a vengeful man who only wanted power by all means to annihilate those whom he perceived as his enemies.

Buhari.....

War is not the way to go... All the unprovoked insults on the Igbo man is uncalled for.

You can't have a security meeting for a region without having an security personnel representing that region.

Go and check it. Any country that does that doesn't have peace.

You cannot keep spitting on a regions face and expect them to apologize and humble themselves before you. No person in the 21st century would take that irrespective of your position.

If you are scared of dialogue, then have the CDS invoke a meeting with the region to access the point of grudge and find a way forward to end insurgency in the East.

Finally,if war breaks out believe me this IGBOS WILL NEVER SUBMIT TO ONE NIGERIA AGAIN and the casualties will definitely be higher than before on both sides.

Don't let your government be the one that breaks the camel's back. BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!

Until there is another round of war in Nigeria, those who foolishly thought their region won Nigeria/Biafra war by themselves will not be wise. Is it not foolhardy for the so-called president of Nigeria to publicly insinuates that Ndigbo do not have access to the sea? Anyway, I do not blame the dumbass fool. The moronic jackass would have been dead from malnutrition if the Yoruba and ill-informed ethnic nationalities in the southern region of Nigeria did not pitch tent with northern region in 1967. There was no way in hell northern region could have scratched eastern region in firefight without the help of those who rallied around Gowon and northern political elites. The Fulani and Kanuri used the dingbat called Gowon to achieve today's Nigeria. Where is Gowon with all the instances of insecurity in the shithole called Nigeria?

It is a breath of fresh air to see Ohanaeze has woken up from idiotic political slumber.

The same people who berated those who suggested dialogue with Boko Haram & bandits are making this cheap plea.
Every single step taken by Borno people before being destroyed now Ohanaeze is emulating them step by step. They mock Boko Haram ravaged areas for creating monster & now they're tasting the same fate, they accuse North of saying any attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North and now they're taking the same pattern, they kept mute on the atrocities of their terrorists sons but have voice on the Executive order to restore normalcy in their potential civil war zone.
Karma has many ways to deal with hypocrites!
