The main aim of copywriting is to drive action. The action might be required immediately for some copies, and this is known as “direct response copywriting.” For branding copywriting, the action might not be needed immediately.

Direct Response Copywriting:

For these two examples, the copywriter wants the reader to take immediate action by following the call to action.

This type is focused on captivating the reader’s interest and building up the desire to take any action in the long run. This form of copywriting is essential and comes into play when branding is the objective.

An example of this type of copywriting is a blog post such as this, with the intent to educate the reader, and the result should be to keep the reader sticking around this blog for more informative content in the future.

Here, no immediate action is required as it might prove counterproductive. But with a strategic copywriting strategy, the reader sees the value in the blog post’s contents and will eventually check out the brand and engage with their product or services.

Another example of this copywriting can be seen in company white papers. The white paper is written to outline the strategic goals and objectives of the company, which the reader will go through and see the value of the company.

No immediate action is required in this form of copy, just like in blog posts, and they are more branding copies than sales copies.
