Think Beyond Your Job Duties, If You Want Your Resume To Stand Out. by adonaimart(m): 10:41am On Jun 16, 2021
✔The job search process has included technology in the form of the applicant tracking system, ATS, to make the hiring process more effective and efficient.

✔With the ATS, your resume has to score a match rate of at least 80% before it gets to the recruiter.

✔Writing a resume that beats the ATS and makes the recruiter to select you for an interview is very important.

The following tips will help;

✌Having a resume that shows concrete examples of your accomplishments/results or actions, rather than a list of your job duties, makes your resume stand out and of course, attracts and engages the hiring manager. For instance, ‘’Designed preventive maintenance procedures that reduced operating down times by 40%” is a good example that demonstrates measurable job accomplishment.

✌Your skills should be incorporated into your job descriptions. Skills get you the job offer and it's normal that you show skills required by the hiring manager for the job.

✌Use the right language to stand out. Describe your job roles, projects and accomplishments with strong action words like "achieved," "designed," "improved" and "established". Use of such action words make you sound confident while imparting vital information.

✌Be very careful how you use industry buzzwords on your resume. I always advise that you only include buzzwords requested for the job role.

Do you think that your resume has passed the ATS test?

What has been your main challenge when writing your resume or job hunting?

Please share, let us learn together.
